Because They Brought Us Together

I am sure many of you have heard the news that Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine will no longer be publishing after February of 2015. This magazine has been such a huge part of so many lives, including my own. The editors have worked hard to not only create an amazing publication, but to bring together a community of crafters. I have met some of my closest friends through my connections due to Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking and they have helped me in many other ways, as well, including making me feel confident in my work. Today we have this amazing blog hop to bid the magazine farewell and to congratulate the editors for a job well done.

High Five!

I couldn't bring myself to create a goodbye or even a thank you card because those felt too 'finished'. Instead, I created this HIGH FIVE! card. You deserve it, folks! A high five to you for all you have done and a high five to you for all you WILL do. Jennifer, Stacy, Susan, Kerri, Holly, Matt, and Melinda - Thank you. You guys are amazing. High Five!

You may have come from the Operation Write Home blog, if not, you may wish to head back to Jennifer McGuire's blog for the start of the hop. Next on the list is A Creative Journey! Happy Hopping!

Have a Happy.

Supplies:

Patterned Paper: Shimelle Collection

What Does The Fox Say?

So, Paper Crafts Magazine recently had it's World Card Making Day contest and the winners have been announced.  Unfortunately, none of them were me.  HA! (No, but seriously, I'm TOTALLY cool with that.)  BUT... I really loved the few cards that I had sent in for that super fun contest, so I am going to share my cards with you guys!  YAY!!!  Today I am showing you the card I submitted to the 'Love' category.  Admittedly, it doesn't SCREAM love, but I HAD to do it, so it happened.  LOL!

What Does the Fox Say?

I used some great heart dies from WPlus9 to cut the white and orange pieces for the face.  SO FUN!!!  The alphabet stamps are from The Stamps of Life.  I punched simple circles with a hole punch for the eyes and then just cut a super thin strip with my paper trimmer for the whiskers and trimmed them to size.  I added just a touch of texture with an embossing folder and I SOOO HEART HIM!!!!!  For reals.  Love.

What Does the Fox Say (inside)

The inside of the card is finished, as well, with the answer to the question, of course!  I used a great speech bubble die from Simon Says Stamp and the Handwritten sentiments set from Avery Elle.  This card just makes me smile.  #thatisall

#thatsnotreallyall  First of all... one really shouldn't write with hashtags.  Seriously.  Who WRITES this blog, anyway?!  Secondly, I hope you like my little card.  Even if it did stick that song in your head for the rest of the day.  HA!

Have a Happy!

AMAZING!

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I do so hope you are having a truly spectacular week thus far!  If not, go get yourself a cupcake.  That's BOUND to turn things around!  I promise!  I have a super fun tag to share with you today for the Gift Tag Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!  The challenges over there this week are going to ROCK!  They are coming straight from the pages of 350 Cards and Gifts Vol. 2.  I have two projects in that issue...including a gift tag, actually.  LOL!  This is not that one, however.  That would just be wrong.  HA!

Adventure Gift Tag

This tag was SO super fun to create! I die cut the fun bubble circle and then layered a subtle bicycle pattern over it. I then added the fun wood veneer bicycle and attached it to a trimmed down paper straw! Woot! So fun!

Adventure Tag (detail)

I just pretty much love it! It's a super fun tag and perfect to attach to any kind of gift! It's pretty much just happy making, that's all.

Patterned Paper: Encinitas, Shoreline Collection - American Crafts
Stamps: Kelley Purkey Rad set - Simon Says Stamp
Paper Straw: Simon Says Stamp

I Don't Always Post My Published Cards, But When I Do, They are Freaking Awesome

HA! Yup. I totally just said that. Why? Well, because this really is probably my most favoritist card of ALL TIME! (Pun totally intended.) It was recently published in Paper Crafts Magazine's May/June issue which hit newstands on 15 April. Go. Buy it. Better yet, get a subscription so you can get the extra digital content, because that pretty much rocks, too. Just sayin'. I don't usually post the cards and projects I get published, but I love this one TOO MUCH to not share! So, my friends... my card....

Tardis Father's Day Card

Umm.... yup. Totally Geektastic! If you are sitting there wondering why a blue police box would be my favorite card ever, well, you might not be a Dr. Who fan. Just sayin'. If that is the case, you should work on that. For reals. If you DID immediately know why a blue police box would be my favorite card ever, well, we can be friends. Like, for life. Again, for reals. Just sayin'. HA! I had so much fun creating this card! I cut all of the pieces, inked the edges with distress ink and carefully pieced them together. Sean helped by finding the fonts and creating the "Police Box" banner and the notification sign on the door because I'm font impaired. HA!

Tardis card (detail)

So, there you have it. And I can't even TELL you how excited I was when I got the email telling me they were going to publish this one!!! It's like a little piece of me got published this time! And that makes me super extra happy! Woot!!!

Tardis card as seen in Paper Crafts Magazine

So, with that, my friends, I leave you!

OH! WAIT! I do want to remind you to head on over to Gourmet Rubber Stamps today to check out the AWESOME Color Challenge that is going up today! There is a new bit of fun added in - GIVEAWAY TIME!!!! Yup! You can win Gourmet Rubber Stamps just by checking out the Design Team blogs and you get an extra chance for playing along, too! So, basically, you should totally get over there. Just sayin'.

Have a Happy!!!

The Contenders Blog Hop - You Amaze Me!

What is a Contenders Blog Hop, you ask? Well, you see, there is a large group of people who regularly (or not regularly... LOL!) submit work to Paper Crafts Magazine. They, obviously, can only accept so many submissions, but that doesn't mean that the others aren't fabulous! SO.... we are hopping today with the cards that didn't make the cut for the magazine, but we still kinda love. Just sayin'.

You Amaze Me

I submitted this card for one of the two sketch calls for the most recent issue, although, obviously I had sunshine on my brain from another category, as well! LOL! To create the base, I first scored the four quadrants and then scored the lines in each quadrant going in opposing directions. I love the texture and interest it adds, while remaining nice and white! I punched a circle and cut it half for the sun and added a few strands of twine for the sunrays.

You Amaze Me (detail)

I used the "you" die from Simon Says Stamp along with the coordinating stamp set for the sentiment. I just love the happy white, the bright yellow, and the strong contrast of the black! It makes me happy.

Sooo... there you have it! This one didn't make it into the magazine, but I'm so happy I got to share it with all of you today! If you submitted, you should totally join the hop! Just pop on over to Annette's blog and link up your Contender! If you haven't submitted, TRY IT! It's fun! I was fortunate to have another card chosen for this issue, so that was a happy day!!!

And with that, I wish you a HAPPY! Yes, my friends, have a happy.

World Card Making Day Stampendous! and May Arts goodness!

Woot! Woot!!! It's World Card Making Day and that is AWESOMENESS!!!!! I love WCMD. Just sayin'. I plan to spend it making STUFF! How about you?

Well, Stampendous! and May Arts Blog Week just so happens to be coming to an end on this fabulous day, so I am excited to share with you a fun Halloween card using the super cute Halloween Magic image from Stampendous!  (Oh...and be sure to check the sponsor blogs for prizes!)

Happy Halloween

I created a textured background for this using the Aged Black and Aged Gold Embossing Enamels. The May Arts spider web ribbon and black burlap string add a wonderful, holiday feel to the card! I colored the image with PrismaColor pencils. The sentiment is an SRM sticker! LOVE THOSE!

I won't keep you long, as I know there is LOTS of hopping to do today with all of the WCMD festivities going on! Here are the links to the rest of the folks participating in today's Stampendous!/May Arts hop! Have fun!!!  There are PRIZES to be won!!!!!
