Make it SPARKLE!

Happy Christmas Eve EVE! I confess, I am still sneaking Christmas cards into my creating. And I still need to send them, so that works out well, actually. HA! The challenge this week over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog is to Make it Sparkle! Ummm... okay! I LOVE sparkle. For reals, though. I love it. Lots.

The Design Team is featuring Technique Tuesday products this week. You don't have to use them to play along, but if you have some, we'd love to see what you do with them! Technique Tuesday has a great selection of truly unique stamps and dies. Plus, I happen to adore two of their designers, Cath and Teri. They contribute amazing designs with a whole lot of love behind them. YAY!

Joy to the World

I used the absolutely GORGEOUS Cath Edvalson Garden Leaves Die set for my card. Cath's designs are based on her own papercutting work so they have absolutely incredible details. I love this leaf die so much! I coated each cut with my Wink of Stella clear to make it truly sparkle and then layered them to create a totally unique look. A few Jillibean Soup self adhesive sequins add both color and sparkle to the swag. Those things are a tad bit on the amazing side.

The sentiment comes form the Hero Arts Clearly Kelly Fa La La La La stamp set. (Yup. That was officially fun to type. And yup... I totally sang it.) It is heat embossed with a red glitter embossing powder to add even more sparkle to my card design. YAY for sparkle! I used my MISTI to get perfect placement for both the 'joy' and the 'to the world'. I have to admit. I fought purchasing one of those things for a LONG time, but I am a convert. I love that thing!

Now it's YOUR TURN! Create something fabulous and MAKE IT SPARKLE! Link it up over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store! I bet you would enjoy some post holiday shopping!

In the meantime, have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Thanks for being awesome!

Because Captain America

Well, I saw Guardians of the Galaxy over the weekend, did YOU?! It was fun. Totally fun. And it will hold me over nicely until the next Avengers movie comes out. SPEAKING of Marvel movies. And the Avengers. And Captain America. This card... it was fun.

My Hero Captain America Card

Yup. That would be the newer version of the Captain America suit translated onto a card. Yes. I am a dork. Yes. This does please me greatly. Good. Glad we got through all of THAT super fun stuff!!! Ummm...I {heart} super hero movies. For reals, though. Lots. Even Captain America and his old fashioned ridiculousness.

To create this one I die cut the star using the Avery Elle Ornament Simply Tags set from silver cardstock. Yup. Christmas dies. For a super hero card. 'Cause I like stretching my supplies, THAT'S WHY! K. Moving on... I scored the die cut star and used varying levels of foam tape to adhere it to the card so it would maintain some kick ass dimension. LOVE THAT! Then I cut silver strips, trimmed the edges to angle them properly, and adhered them. So simple!

The sentiment is stamped and embossed, keeping it simple, but perfectly on point. That is from the (unfortunately discontinued) Kelly Purkey DUDE stamp set.

This one was fairly easy to make, but TONS of fun! I kind of love it.

Have a Happy!

Hot Dogs! Hot Dogs! Get Yer Hot Dogs Heya!

There you go. A tiny piece of Fenway Park right there in my blog post title. HA! For Father's Day we went to my parents house and had a simple cookout. Since I may or may not have waited until that morning to make a card for my dear sweet Daddy, I decided to make a card to suit the day! AND...Paper Smooches Sparks just so happened to post an Anything Goes Challenge, so I pulled out some Paper Smooches stamps and had a bit of fun on this one layer card.

Happy Father's Day

I didn't have a PS sentiment that was working for me, so I pulled this one from a Kelly Purkey set, but I LOVE how cute those hot dogs and that burger from the Alfresco set are!!!! LOVE, dude. Totes. I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. I used mostly solid colors instead of doing the more common blending and such except for on the bread. That needed a couple of colors to make it look right, but other than that I love how simplicity totally wins with this card! It makes me smile.

So, basically, this card just makes me happy. And it makes me want a burger. Burgers are happy.

I hope you have a pretty darned fantastic day. You can find the products I used on my card in the links below.

Have a Happy!

Stencil Style

I was excited to see another great new challenge over at Moxie Fab World!  This one is all about the stencils!  Stencils were a funny thing for me.  I didn't think I'd use them very much, but I got one or two to give them a shot and was instantly addicted!  I love them!  You can really do so much with them and they are a fairly inexpensive took, particularly considering their versatility.  Simon Says Stamp has a huge selection to choose from, too!  YAY!

With All My Heart

For this card, I used a striped stencil and some Twinkling H2O's, a shimmery watercolor, to create a cool watercolor background.  I used a waterbrush to apply the paints and let them seep under the stencil a bit here and there.  I didn't go for 'perfect' I went more for cool and artsy and I really like how the colors blended and gave the card a neat look!

In this one you can see the shimmer.  I love that!  It just adds a fun little touch to a card.  I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Words stamp set.  I love that set!  So pretty!  A little wood veneer heart finishes the sentiment and brings a nice natural touch to the card, as well.

So... that's my card for the Styling With Stencils in the Moxie Fab World challenge!  I may have a couple more before this one is all said and done.  I do so LOVE stencils!

Have a Happy!
