Hello WORLD! - A Blog Hop for a Cause [Giveaway!]

Sometimes a message pops up in your inbox that you just aren't expecting. Sometimes, a message pops up in your inbox that brings tears to your eyes. Sometimes, a message pops up in your inbox that brings tears to the eyes of your husband.

One day, not too long ago, one of those messages popped up in my inbox.

Catherine Pooler and Chaitali Narla popped up in my inbox. They had seen me post a link to a GoFundMe that I had set up for my husband, Sean's, classroom. And they wanted to help. Today is the result of that message. This stamp set. This blog hop. And it still brings tears to my eyes. There is simply no way to express how thankful I am that this amazing group of talented designers have come together to help Sean's students get Chromebooks in their classroom.

Why Chromebooks? Because they are affordable and offer everything these kids need access to in the classroom. They are also durable and classroom ready, making them easier to set up, maintain, and use to share documents, classroom materials, and resources with the students. You can read Sean's thoughts here: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/chromebooks-for-urban-education/2208813/.

Why are they needed? Because the school can't buy them. They also haven't provided curriculum for Sean to use, so he has to create his own. Great teachers create their own curriculum often, and he is capable of doing this, but he does need his students to have access to resources. This is what these funds will be providing. They will allow Sean's students the opportunity to say, "Hello, World!"

All profits from the sale of the Hello World stamp set and the coordinating dies from Saturday October 1 - Friday, October 7 will purchase computers and other school supplies for Sean’s classroom in Boston.
I can’t wait to see how this week unfolds and how many computers we can provide for these kids!!!

I combined the Hello World stamp set and Hello World dies with the beautiful Lovely Flowers stamp set, also releasing today from Catherine Pooler! Isn't the Hello World set AMAZING?! Chaitali stunned me with her thoughtful creativity in the design of this set. It couldn't be more perfect for our purpose!  I love how well these worked together, and I simply HAD to use the Hello, World sentiment. As a woman who lives in the tech world... it's fun to combine girly things with computer things sometimes... totally throws the guys off. ;) LOL!

I want to take a moment to thank each and every person on this blog hop for participating and also for each and every one of you who has taken the time to hop today. It means a lot to me. The WORLD, actually. And it means a lot to Sean. And, while they don't know it yet, it means so very much to each and every one of his middle school students.

As a thank you, I'd like to offer a SURPRISE stamp set (okay, probably more than that) to one commenter on my blog. Simply leave a comment by 7 October 2016 and I will randomly select one winner. Be sure there is a way I can contact you.

If you are just finding the hop here on my blog, please take a moment to check out these amazing designers!

Another Fabulous Year of Being AWESOME!

Just a reminder... I need your votes for the Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking World Card Making Day Contest Honorable Mention! My card is the floral birthday card! Thank you so much to those who have already voted! You guys ROCK!!!

Today I am sharing a simple, but totally fun card. Date stamps. Somehow I feel like many of us end up with them somehow and then we tend to forget to use them. Or not have any clue HOW to effectively use them. I was definitely in this group, anyway. I received this super cute date stamp from the Shimelle Collection. It's adorable. Seriously. BUT, seeing as I don't scrapbook very often, AND, even when I did, I generally didn't use date stamps, I wasn't sure what to do with it. So, naturally, I took it out of the package and stared at it. Because that always works. HA!

Awesome dates

And then I remembered THIS awesome sentiment from Altenew. Yup. Combined with my date stamp, we had LIFT OFF! I changed the dates, including the year, on the date stamp with each use to get all kinds of dates on my card. They go backwards, they go forwards, they basically go all over the place! And that works SO AWESOMELY WELL with the sentiment and I LOVE that. (And yes, awesomely is a word... spell check told me so. No...for reals, though..I was kind of surprised by that, so I thought I should share. Awesomely. It's a word.)

DSCN5714

So, in conclusion...

  • Date stamps are actually kind of awesome.
  • Awesomely is totally a word.
  • You actually CAN, awesomely, get ideas by staring at supplies you have no clue how to use.
Don't forget to vote. Awesomely. For reals, though.

The end.

Have a Happy!

I am a Leading Lady!

Happy World Card Making Day, folks!!! I have some VERY exciting news to share with you today! I am the Leading Lady over at Winnie & Walter for the month of October!!! I could not be more thrilled! I absolutely LOVE Winnie & Walter stamps, cut files, and, well, just about everything they make! LOVE! And Julie and Shay are pretty spectacular, too, so it's just a total package kind of deal, folks. Total. Package.

For my first week I wanted to have some fun with some of my FAVORITE Winnie & Walter stamps, so I decided on WORD UP! theme for this week. Yup. It's all about the words for this one, folks!

Happy Hello

For my first card, I used words as my absolute focal point. This one is ALL about the words. I stamped Happy from The Big, The Bold, and The Happy three times in different colors and then added the Hello, taking it off to the other edge to draw the eye to it. I love how words are the star of the show for this fun card!

Thankful for You

Another great thing about the word stamps from Winnie & Walter is that you can totally use them in the background, as well. For this fall card I stamped the word 'autumn' in the background repeatedly in a very pale ink to add visual interest and texture to the design. I then stamped my tree and the sentiment right on top! I love how the background adds so much to this card.

Black and White Thanks

For my final card, I actually didn't use any stamps at all?! WHAT?! I know, right? I cut the 'thanks' using the The Big, The Bold, and You cut files and used the negative as a stencil to trace my sentiment onto the card. I then used one of the BRAND NEW stencils from Winnie & Walter to add some bold, black embossing paste stripes across my card panel. I am LOVING these stencils!!! This card shows how words can be used in, perhaps the most traditional method, as a fabulous, standout sentiment!

And there you go, my friends! I hope you have enjoyed our little Word Play today! Go grab some of your The Big, The Bold stamp sets and make some magic happen!!!

Shay and Julie have GENEROUSLY provided a $30 Gift Card to one of my readers! To enter, simply comment on my Leading Lady posts here on the blog throughout this month. I will be choosing a winner at the end of the month from ALL of my Leading Lady posts, so you have a few chances to enter!

Have a Happy!
