BRI #Hashtag Stamps Blog Hop - #thestruggleisreal

Hello, friends! I am SUPER excited to be sharing this very fun stamp set! You see, two of my favorite people came together to make it happen and it is now exclusively available at Butterfly Reflections Ink! We are going a blog hop to show it off a bit today. My card design is a simple one, as per usual, but I LOVE IT! (Perhaps, also, as per usual?) I combined the new exclusive #hashtag stamp set with the absolutely gorgeous Christian Greetings stamp set to create my card. Ummm... yes, I may or may not have chosen Joscie's favorite color on purpose. I would have added a 77 for Vanessa, but, to be honest...I couldn't figure out how to make that happen. HA!

Untitled

If you came from Gladys' blog, you are already having an awesome time! If you just stumbled on our little hop, I am actually the final stop, you so will want to head to the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog to start from the top!

Birthday Wishes

Did you SEE the incredible inspiration photo for the Cure for the Monday Blues challenge this week? Oh, for the love of all things gold and shiny! I HAD to play along this time around. I simply HAD to do it.

And when I saw that, I also thought of the fabulous Sketch Challenge over on the Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash festivities, and well, my friends, it was just meant to be. I pulled these two bits of inspiration together to create a super fun card that I love super lots and uses a whole bunch of my favorite companies! WHAT?! Yup. Totally.

Birthday Wishes in Gold

I die cut some DCWV chalkboard cardstock (yes, they make that, yes, it's awesome, yes, you need some) using the pierced circle dies from Spellbinders which I have raved about so many times now, that I'm just assuming you own them, and then heat embossed some gorgeous Winnie & Walter stamps in GOLD! Because...gold. I stamped a simple heart with Gold Delicata ink to create that polka dot feel from the inspiration photo. LOVE!!! A bit of Bossy Joscie flair and May Arts ribbon add just the right finishing touch along with a puffy heart sticker from Pinkfresh Studio. (All supplies will be linked at the bottom of this post. That was a lot, I'm aware. HA)

Birthday Wishes in Gold (detail)

Oh...and gold cardstock. I seriously love that gold cardstock. I will be honest, it wasn't the cheapest stuff in the world, but I invested in a pack and I am using every SCRAP of that stuff! For reals, though. It's gorgeous.

Here is that supply list I mentioned (Links to Simon Says Stamp are affiliate links. Your support is always appreciated.)

Cardstock: Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth White, DCWV Chalkboard Cardstock, Simon Says Stamp black
Stamps: Winnie & Walter Happy Christmas, Winnie & Walter a Tree for All Seasons, Winnie & Walter Picture Perfect
Dies: Pierced Circles by Spellbinders
Ink: VersaMark, Gold Delicata by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko
Sticker: Up in the Clouds Collection by Pinkfresh Studio
Flair: Bossy Joscie
Ribbon: May Arts
Embossing Powder: Stampendous! Gold Detail
Tools: Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine, Milwaukee Heat Tool, Fiskars Stamp Press

Have a Happy!

Because Bulk Christmas Cards

I have a confession: I dislike creating cards in bulk.

Yup. It's true. I absolutely love creating a fresh, new design for each and every card I make, however, the truth of the matter is, when it comes to Christmas cards, sometimes you just need LOTS and it is a bit quicker to do bulk batches. That being the case, I make a compromise. I create batches of five or ten cards each. I still don't do lots, but five or ten is totally doable. Creating in bulk is a bit of a different ball game, though, to be honest. You have to have a design that is simple enough and yet something that still stands well on it's own. I decided to pull out my awesome deer stamp from Bossy Joscie and a great sentiment from Stampendous! for this batch and I love how they turned out! Easy peasy, folks! For reals, though.

Merry Christmas

As you may have noticed, I am mildly obsessed with the white and gold color combination. I just think it is absolutely GORGEOUS! It also allows for a strong impact with a simple design. I used gold embossing powder and some gold string to bring some shine to this design. Annnnnnnd....I sorta kinda love it. I do. I really and truly do.

Merry Christmas (detail)

The square is die cut using the Spellbinders Pierced Squares dies. They are awesome. I created five of these in a under an hour or so. They came together quickly, but still totally feel like 'me'.

Do you create cards in bulk at all? How many is your limit?

Have a Happy!

Because LISTS!

Lists. I love 'em. Really, I truly do. They make things so much easier. And the pure JOY one gets from checking items off a long to-do list is just FABULOUS! Fabulous, I tell you. For reals, though. Sooo...when Joscie came up with the idea for these AMAZEBALLS stamps, I was one hundred percent on board.

Umm... yeah. So, here's the deal. There are two versions of this amazing stamp available at Bossy Joscie. The one shown above, where you can add any name or description you like in the box... like say.... Santa's nice list, My to-do list, Honey-do list, etc.... OR, she has a personalized one available that I needed. NEEDED, I  tell you!

Jingle's List

Are you seeing that? Do you SEE how perfectly that fits on a sticky note? Yup. That was on purpose. You can stamp this fabulous list onto a sticky note AND, not only do you have a super cute, ready to go list, BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Yes, my friends, you also get to check off the first item on your list right away because... you did it! You started a new list! Congratulations! I am telling you, folks, this was some pretty genius design work on this one. For reals.

Also, if you haven't checked out Bossy Joscie, you simply must. MUST, I tell you! There you will find a wide selection of gorgeous custom stamp options and flair, both custom and ready to ship!

Wanting to buy an awesome list stamp for Christmas? There are a few of the non-personalized ones in stock and ready to ship. If you would like a personalized one, Joscie will happily print out a card showing the awesome stamp that is in progress so you can stuff that stocking with a fun surprise! Head on over to check it out. Seriously, though. You know you want to.

Have a Happy!

Glad Tidings and Watercolor

I have another card inspired by the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop to share with you today! The Day 3 focus was watercolor and I decided to do a simple card (due to limited time) using the color blending techniques Kristina shared. I stamped and embossed a small, torn strip of watercolor paper with this awesome deer stamp from Bossy Joscie. I then watercolored over the image with various red tones.

Glad Tidings

I mounted the watercolored piece on a white panel with some silver metallic string behind it. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Inside Holiday Greetings stamp set. Except I used it on the outside. Because I'm rebellious like that. For reals, though.

Glad Tidings (detail)

I kept this design simple and I kind of love it. This one would actually be really easy to do in multiples, which is always a plus for holiday cards. I am not usually a torn paper fan, but watercolor paper just tears SO beautifully and I love how it looks when you paint over the torn edge. It just adds so much texture! LOVE!

Winnie & Walter: Premiere of Mini Scenery: Into the Woods + Scenery: Big Bang Flurries + Winter Woodland

Thank you all for joining me on day 1 of the Winnie and Walter release! Today we have some more great stamp sets to share with you! I super love today's sets! I really do! For my first card I used both the Mini Scenery: Into the Woods stamp and the Big Bang Flurries WITH a sentiment from Winter Wonderland. WHOA! Three sets in one card. Yup. Totally did that.

Just For You Woodland

I stamped the background in black VersaFine ink and then stamped some snowflakes over it with VersaMark. I heat embossed the entire thing using a sparkle embossing powder from Stampendous. I just love how shiny and sparkly it is! I used Distress inks, brushed across the card, to get the look of real birch trees. Finally, I added a Bossy Joscie flair piece as embellishment on the card. YAY!

Just for You Holiday (detail)

You can really see the shine in this shot. It looks so pretty in person! I promise!

Season's Greetings

For my second card today, I wanted to use that gorgeous and HUGE tree stamp, but I also wanted to do something less traditional, so I opted to stamp the image in black ink and I used red stars to decorate the tree. The snowflakes from Big Bang Flurries made a great background for this one!

Be sure to head on over to the Winnie & Walter blog for more inspiration and to enter to WIN!!!

Have a Happy!

Peppermint Planner

I forget things. A lot, actually. SO, when The Hubbums mentions something that I want to tuck away in the back of my mind as a potential Christmas gift, I like to write it down. Or...when I get one of those, OH! I KNOW WHAT I CAN BUY MY SISTER! moments, again, I need to write that stuff DOWN, folks! I decided to create a fun little holiday planner for just this purpose.

Peppermint Planner

This is my Peppermint Planner! Cute name, huh? Yup. Totally. I love it! Tee-hee!!!! I pulled together some fun stamps and dies from Paper Smooches for this one and I just love it! The planner, itself, is a simple Moleskine notebook. Nothing fancy, and super easy to alter. I used the Paper Smooches Rainbow Die to cut the red and white curves to form the fun circle around my critter. The adorable penguin is from the Chilly Chums set and he is fussy cut and then mounted on an Action Wobble so when you touch him he WOBBLES!!! So. Much. Cuteness.

Peppermint Planner Wobble Element

The alphabet letters are Kelly Purkey stickers and no longer available, but I am sure you can find some similar ones out there to create your own planner. I used a great holiday flair piece from Bossy Joscie (who also sells AMAZEBALLS custom stamps, so you should really click through and check it out, dude. For reals.) at the top of the planner for just a bit of extra and then finally finished it off with a pen stitch around the edge. I am READY to plan, folks!

Patterned Paper, Project Life, and A Golden Hello

I made another card for the Photo Pocket Scrapbooking Challenge over at Moxie Fab World. I couldn't help it. It had to happen. HA!

You see, earlier this week I cleaned things up in my studio a bit. I also did some organizing and such, but, until last night, I didn't have a chance to actually do some CREATING! I hit a few assignments, but then I ended up doing a couple of 'just for fun' cards because, well, IT'S FUN! Silly, Rabbit! Anyway, I recently purchased this My Mind's Eye Market Street paper pad and was having a hard time with the colors, but I decided to give it a shot and I LOVE how this card turned out!

Hello

I keep one of those cute little ceramic egg cartons from Anthropologie on my desk filled with sequins and one pretty little wood mounted stamp from Bossy Joscie because I love it too much to actually put it away somewhere. I pulled that stamping goodness out for this card, too! YAY!

Golden Hello (detail)

I stamped the sentiment on a journaling card from the Becky Higgins Midnight Project Life collection and added a few gold enamel dots because I like them. Lots. No, but for reals, you guys. I love those things.

You can find my complete supply list below.

Stencils and Custom Coloured Embossing Paste

Yes. Both of those things.  They are awesome. Super duper awesome. And I used both on this fun card...AND some watercoloring, too, just for grins and giggles.  WHAT?!!! Yup. Totes, peeps.  Totes.

I was feeling a strong urge to use some stencils based on the inspiration from both the Virginia's View Challenge and Moxie Fab World Styling With Stencils Challenge. Yup. Two challenges. It had to happen, folks. The Universe said so.

Blue Feather On Watercolor

Yup.  Blue embossing paste.  How did this come to be, you ask?  Well, let me tell you!  Take your Ranger craft mat... hit it a few times with your distress ink color of choice... fold just a *bit* of embossing paste right in that spot with a little spatula thingy (of COURSE that's the technical term) or an old gift card until the color has mixed in well.... smile because you totes just made your own custom embossing paste, YO!

Custom colored embossing paste?  Yup.  Loving this!

The background is done with watercolors through a stencil and then, after that dried I did the feather and finally stamped the hello, a fabulous Bossy Joscie stamp onto the vellum and attached that with foam pieces under the letters to hide them.  And sequins.  Always with the sequins.

An extra one, actually.  K?  K.  Thanks.  Happy.  Do it.

How About a Little Stencil Action?

I have been playing with stencils a lot lately.  I have to be honest, I was reluctant when they first started coming back into play, but after receiving a few of them, I was HOOKED!  I had NO idea I would love them so much, but they allow you to add pattern and design to your projects in so many different ways using a huge variety of media, and THAT, my friends, makes the a wonderful, versatile tool that happens to also be rather inexpensive in the long run!  LOVE!

Hugs

For this card, I used the mini fish scales stencil from The Crafter's Workshop along with the AMAZING gold color wash from Heidi Swapp!  her color washes are seriously the best.  I don't know why, I have no explanation for you, I just know I struggle with others and I LOVE the Heidi Swapp ones TONS!  To get the look, I secured my stencil over the panel and then sprayed at an angle from the bottom right toward the top left.  I love the ombre look it created!

Hugs (detail)

I stamped the sentiment from the Scripty Sayings set by Paper Smooches in Charcoal ink over the gold.  I then added a shiny gold flair from Bossy Joscie that I accented with a die cut heart covered with glossy accents.

This card was a LOT of fun to create and I really love the way it turned out in the end.  So pretty!  Have you pulled out stencils and given them a shot yet?  If not, you TOTALLY should, dude!  They are fabulous!

Have a Happy!
