Just a Bit O' Green

Hello, friends! It's that time of year! Yup. It's time to GO GREEN! Here in Boston, St. Patrick's day is a BIG deal. That being said, I can't say I send cards for it. But that doesn't stop me from pulling out some green here and there just for fun! This week, the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is to do just that! Use Just a Bit O' Green! The Design Team is playing with Clearly Besotted products this week. You don't have to use them to play along, but if you've got some, we'd love to see how you rock 'em! They have the BEST designs! I absolutely LOVE Clearly Besotted!

Hello

I pulled out the Clearly Besotted Sketched Blooms stamp set and my Spectrum Noir markers to create this simple, pretty card. A bit of twine finishes it off perfectly!

Be Different. Be Beautiful.

Those are the same thing. Just in case that wasn't clear. It was, though, huh? Yeah... it totally was.

In other news: I love flamingos. And I love that they aren't ACTUALLY pink, but they are pink, but they aren't pink. No, for reals. ACTUALLY, they are pink OR Orange-ish. And they are born a light grey color. They eat brine shrimp. LOTS and LOTS of brine shrimp. And blue-green algae that is loaded with beta-carotene. THAT, is what causes the colors. They also eat some mollusks and other crustaceans that contain similar pigments. The pink or the orange tones depend on the specific shrimp and algae types they are eating. AND, because people expect them to be pink, zoos will actually add a color chemical to the flamingo food to maintain that color. It's all in the food, folks. If you change their diet, they wouldn't be pink anymore. You are what you eat!

AND...I even have an ink pad CALLED Flamingo. It's from WPlus9 and it is probably that fabulous pinkish-orange color because it ate a lot of shrimp. And algae. I'm sure of it. I used it for my Flamingo. Then I stamped his legs and beak in Simon Slate ink and layered a WPlu9 tag cut from Bazzill Vellum over him. A bit of May Arts Silver string grounds the tag to the card. The accent stripes are from the Clearly Besotted Diagonal Stripes stamp set. I love those stamps for accenting!

And that sentiment. I love it. I love it a lot. I am different. I like it that way. It works for me. I hope you are different, too.

Wow. You came to see a card and got a science lesson AND a mini motivational speech! Who knew?

Have a Happy, friends!

Because Lots of Colorful Dots!

Woo-hoooo! It's Wednesday. And I have obviously had my iced coffee this morning (peanut butter chocolate flavor today, it's my go-to when I can't decide). We have an exciting new challenge for you up over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! Woot! Woot! This week we are challenging you to STENCIL IT! Yup. We want to see you playing with stencils on your projects this week! You can rock them any way you choose. The Design Team is showcasing The Crafter's Workshop products this week. You don't have to use them to participate, but if you've got some, you may as well!

I used the Mini Dots All Around stencil along with some of the newest Distress Inks to create a super fun background for my card. I love the colors so much!!! I then stamped fussy cut the flowers from the Clearly Besotted Sketched Blooms set and covered them with shimmering, sparkling Wink of Stella GOODNESS! I do so love sparkle. For reals, though.

You Were Meant To SHINE!

It is ANYTHING GOES week this week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog! This week the Design Team is using Clearly Besotted and/or Lil' Inker Designs products on our projects. You don't have to use them to play along, but if you've got some we'd love to see them! I chose a super pretty stamp set from Clearly Besotted that I had in my studio just WAITING to be inked. I love it!

You Were Meant to Shine

I combined the gorgeous flowers from the Celebrating You stamp set with the super cute Bella Rouge collection from Pink Paislee. This is one of my favorites right now! I absolutely LOVE it! Just look at that BOW!!! LOVE IT!

Shine (detail)

I colored the flowers with Spectrum Noir pens and die cut the Spellbinders tag to layer over free-hand cut papers. A bit of ribbon and string help to add accent color and then... THAT BOW! *sigh* I love that bow. You can find my complete supply list below.

Now it's YOUR TURN! Create a NEW project and link it up to the ANYTHING GOES challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store! WHAT?! Yup. Totally.

Let Me Be Clear

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

Those words are often uttered by one of my absolute FAVORITE politicians. To the point where it is totally SNL skit worthy, actually. The good thing, I suppose, is that she is a favorite of mine, so I usually agree with whatever it is that follows! LOL! However, this week, we over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog are making those words a bit less political and a whole lot of CRAFTY! That's right! This week we want you to be CLEAR! Use something clear on your project, be it acetate, clear plastic, glossy accents, clear sequins, vellum, or some other fabulous clear thing-a-ma-jig. Clearly, it's going to be fabulous. (HA! See what I did there? Clearly. *sigh*)

The Design Team is using Clearly Besotted products this week. You don't have to use them to enter, but if you have some we'd love to see what you do with them! I used a super fun landscape die along with my clear element - vellum. (Okay, so it's probably more 'translucent' than actually CLEAR, but, clearly we aren't going to be that picky. Mostly because I said so. Clearly.) I mean, technically, I also used clear VersaMark ink for the embossing, so there is that.

Hello, friend

Ummm... why, yes, I do LOVE this card, thanks for asking! I don't know what it is about it, but I just love how it turned out. Bright colors, a fun design that was a totally different direction that I had originally set out for, but I totally love it and it's actually cooler than my first idea, anyway. Clearly. (Yes, I am going to keep doing that. I find it hilarious. Clearly. HA!) For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed in white and then stamped on the white strip in black and layered that over the embossed version to make it more interesting. And just kind of totally cool. For reals, though. Clearly.

Hello, friend (detail)

You can find the complete list of the fun stuff I used in the links below. Including those cute papers. And the die. And the stamps. And the ... well, clearly.

BUT, more importantly, now it's YOUR turn! Create something with a touch of CLEAR and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog! DUDE, you could win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store. For reals. You want that. I know, because I want that. Clearly.

Have a Happy, folks!
