A Little Halloween with a Little Potter Mixed In

Is that okay? Can I squeeze in one more Halloween card for this year? I had fun with this one, taking some fun Halloween stamps and giving them a bit of a Harry Potter twist. Because who doesn't love a sorting hat and a Nimbus 2000? Right? Right. Good. Glad we had this chat.

So, not gonna lie. This one sat on my desk for several days while I decided if I was brave enough to share it. Now that I'm looking at it fresh again, I think I actually really do like it. It's fun! I stamped the hat and the broom from the Simon Says Stamp Toil and Trouble stamps and dies set onto kraft paper and then colored with Spectrum Noir colored pencils. I went for the weathered Sorting hat look on the hat and um..... I REALLY REALLY LIKE IT. K? K. Thanks. I die cut both pieces, along with the tree from the Ghouls and Tree die set from Simon.

I finished the card by adding just a touch of Reverse Confetti patterned paper and then stamped, embossed, and die cut the sentiment and frame together.

And, my friends, there you have it. A bit of Halloween and a bit of Harry Potter all rolled into one fun card. Now... where did I leave my robes, I gotta fly......

Friendly Little Bats

I mentioned that I really like bats, right? When I saw the Reverse Confetti challenge to create a card with a Thanksgiving or Friendship theme, I figured it was a perfect time to combine my love of Halloween and bats with a friendship sentiment for a cute little card.

I stamped the three little bats from the Reverse Confetti Best Witches stamp set and colored them with Spectrum Noir colored pencils. I am discovering that I REALLY love coloring with colored pencils. I honestly feel like I work better with them than I do with my markers a lot of the time. I am loving it. It is also wicked relaxing to feel the smooth pencil over the paper. I don't know...I just really enjoy it.

After stamping and coloring the bats I added a quick stamped star and then finished it off with a great Lawn Fawn Hello die. The friend is actually hand written with a Copic pen to get the look I was going for.

This card was one of those ones that I just really enjoyed creating. It makes me smile.

What are the kinds of things that just make you happy when you create? Is it coloring? The actual stamping? Putting together various design elements? I'd love hear about it in the comments!

Shake It Up!

***This is my second post for today! Be sure to check out the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Calling All Sistahs blog hop and giveaway below!***

Happy Wednesday, friends! This week we are SHAKING IT UP with Simon Says Stamp for the Wednesday Challenge! The Design Team is using We R Memory Keepers products this week. You don't have to use them to play along, but if you have some, we'd love to see what you do with them!

Smile

I pulled out my Fuse Tool to create a one of a kind pineapple shaker. I added cardstock below the first layer to create the pattern on the pineapple, and then removed the card so that I could fuse the edges of the pineapple. I filled it with super fun sequins and beads from Lucy's Cards. I love these sets! They are so perfect for shakers!

For this card, I decided to play with the inside a bit, too! I used the We R Memory Keepers Gift Bag Pop-Up to create a gift card holder inside my card. I used some pineapple vellum to keep with my theme. This was SO much fun to make! This is designed to hold a gift card perfectly! You can use it as a pop-up in a card or by itself.

Now it's your turn! Create an awesome project featuring a shaker of some kind and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store! Woot! Woot!

Have a Happy!

Be Different. Be Beautiful.

Those are the same thing. Just in case that wasn't clear. It was, though, huh? Yeah... it totally was.

In other news: I love flamingos. And I love that they aren't ACTUALLY pink, but they are pink, but they aren't pink. No, for reals. ACTUALLY, they are pink OR Orange-ish. And they are born a light grey color. They eat brine shrimp. LOTS and LOTS of brine shrimp. And blue-green algae that is loaded with beta-carotene. THAT, is what causes the colors. They also eat some mollusks and other crustaceans that contain similar pigments. The pink or the orange tones depend on the specific shrimp and algae types they are eating. AND, because people expect them to be pink, zoos will actually add a color chemical to the flamingo food to maintain that color. It's all in the food, folks. If you change their diet, they wouldn't be pink anymore. You are what you eat!

AND...I even have an ink pad CALLED Flamingo. It's from WPlus9 and it is probably that fabulous pinkish-orange color because it ate a lot of shrimp. And algae. I'm sure of it. I used it for my Flamingo. Then I stamped his legs and beak in Simon Slate ink and layered a WPlu9 tag cut from Bazzill Vellum over him. A bit of May Arts Silver string grounds the tag to the card. The accent stripes are from the Clearly Besotted Diagonal Stripes stamp set. I love those stamps for accenting!

And that sentiment. I love it. I love it a lot. I am different. I like it that way. It works for me. I hope you are different, too.

Wow. You came to see a card and got a science lesson AND a mini motivational speech! Who knew?

Have a Happy, friends!

A Five Minute Valentine

***Don't forget to enter yesterday's giveaway!***

Looking for an adorable card that you can whip up in bulk before tomorrow? Or perhaps you just need one, but you need it fast! I got these stamps in the mail the other day and didn't have a ton of time, but I wanted to make something, so I created this fun little card in about five minutes. I love it. It makes me smile!

Five Minute Valentine

The stamps are from Reverse Confetti and they are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! I super love them. Had to have them. It was really that simple. HA! I then used WPlus9 inks to add color to the bowtie and hair bow, along with the little hearts and the sentiment. I colored with Copics, but kept it simple by only using flat color. I used a whopping two markers to color these cuties. Yup. Just two. It's allowed. I promise.

I finished it off by rounding the corners with the 1/8" corner chomper. This is a new toy in my studio and, you guys, seriously....it is AMAZEBALLS! I already had the 1/4" version, but this tiny rounded corner... BE STILL MY PAPER LOVING HEART! For reals, though. It's awesome.

And that, my friends, is what I have for you today! Be sure to stop by yesterday's post to enter to win a Gift Certificate to Simon Says Stamp!

Feeling a little Foxy

Have you guys SEEN these awesome Sew Easy Templates from We R Memory Keepers? Simon Says Stamp carries four of them and I am in LOVE! This one caught my eye, not only for the fox (because.... FOX.), but also for the super cute mustache, the diamond, the giant ampersand, and the amazing hot air balloon. I'm digging the flower and the arrow, too, actually. So, yeah... basically, I had to have it and at that price, who would turn it down? For REALS, you guys! Awesomeness!!!

Stitched Fox Birthday

I wanted the stitched fox to shine on this, so I kept the design SUPER CAS. I chose to do the stitching with burlap string from May Arts in black and a rust color. The sentiment is from the Reverse Confetti Lots to Say set stamped in black hybrid ink. I love that sentiment set!
