I Will Never Forget You

An odd sentiment for a Valentine card, perhaps, but for some reason it is what landed on this one.  And I don't have any good reason why, but it is working for me.  For some reason... it's the right one.

I was inspired to create this card by the utterly breathtaking inspiration photo provided by the Avery Elle AEI♥U Challenge.  The colors are just amazing and I love the feeling of stillness, perhaps even a touch of sadness, and a great sense of hope that the image conveys.

Isn't that just beautiful? *sigh* So... I pulled out my Bright Days set from Avery Elle and got to work. My design idea actually changed a bit as I was working, but I am quite pleased with the end game on this one. I am also linking this up to the Make Your Own Background Paper Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

I'll Never Forget You

Deep reds and multiple grey tones? Yes. Please. I so love these gorgeous hues! I used Cranberry ink from CTMH along with both London Fog and Grey Flannel from Tsukineko (Momento inks). I used first and second generation stamping to get multiple tones and also to create a sense of depth on a card that is mostly flat. I was also inspired by the lines in the photograph...I pulled them out in a more abstract form for my card.

I'll Never Forget (detail)

I used a simple line of May Arts Grosgrain Ribbon and accented it with an inked wood veneer heart from Studio Calico. The word stickers are Authentique - and a perfect fit! I so love them!

And yes, a bit of a different sentiment, but those are needed sometimes. And sometimes... they are bittersweet....

Have a happy!

Doing the Moxie Fab Polka!

Yup.  Polka DOT, that is!  (Get it?  My card has polka dots?  Get it?  Get it?  k.  good.  just checkin'.)

Hello, my friends!  I am playing along with the Make Your Own Background Paper in the Moxie Fab World Challenge today and I am LOVING IT!  You see, I don't often use backgrounds, nevermind make my own, so this challenge was super fun!

Watercolor Polka Dot Thank you

To create my background, I pulled a thick piece of Canva-Board paper (Canson) and stamped it with the lid to a tube of gum.  What gum comes in a tube, you ask?  Project 7 Gum comes in a tube.  And helps feed people.  You should buy some.  Just sayin'.  The lid just so happens to be PERFECT for creating a rough edged stamped circle on canva-board!  YAY!  I then added a bit of color (three different blues) to each circle with watercolor crayons (Stampin' Up!).  A waterbrush took care of the rest!  I kinda love this background!  It's calm and happy!  YAY!

Watercolor Polka Dots Thank You

Then, to finish the card, I used a Bazzill Bling cardstock base and a black panel so the dots would really stand out.  I added a couple of strips of happy washi tape and, of course, a fabulous Bossy Joscie flair sentiment... because Bossy Joscie flair is awesome.  You should probably buy some of that, too.  Just sayin'.

So... on that note... it looks like you have some shopping to do... HA!  No, but for reals, thanks for stopping by and I love your comments, so leave one so I can come visit your blog and leave you a comment and then you can visit mine and leave me a comment and then we can just keep doing that and doing that and then we will be friends.  *Sigh.*

Jingle Out.

I need a nap.  Just sayin'.

Let's CELEBRATE!

***This is my THIRD post of the day! Yikes! I know...busy day! HA! Please be sure to click on my blog header to get to the main blog and scroll down to see all the excitement! I have cards and a great announcement, too!***

Happy New Year, folks! I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating! My husband and I celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve and spent a nice relaxing day at home getting a few things done yesterday. It was pretty great, actually!

Today, the Simon Says Stamp Challenge is all about Something NEW! I decided to create a fun New Year's card with some NEW stamps from Simon Says Stamp and a set I got for Christmas, too! Lots of new stuff!

Celebrate

This card was way fun to create! I stamped the background and then created the masked and embossed sentiment circle to add to the front. I actually stamped the sunburst first, masking off the area for the sentiment, embossed that with the bling embossing enamel, and then stamped and embossed the sentiment in yellow. Kind of tricky, but super fun! I like how it looks like the dropping ball for New Year's Eve!

Celebrate (detail)

So...you should totally kick off the new year and participate in this fun challenge! All you have to do is thing about Something NEW! One lucky participant will win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Super Store!!!

I can't wait to see what NEW ideas you come up with! Happy New Year!!!
