Heh, heh... See What I Did There?

So, here's the thing. I don't usually do sketch challenges. For some reason I tend to struggle a bit with using a sketch for my inspiration. That being said, every now and then I see one that just catches me and I simply MUST give it a shot! This MFT Sketch Challenge sketch, was so very much one of those.

Isn't it fabulous? I had a few ideas, but decided to pull out a few Simon Says Stamp inks and an MFT stamp set I've had for awhile and haven't used yet for my design. I wanted to use a unique color combination, as I've found myself reaching for the same few colors a lot recently and wanted to shake things up a bit. This combo is different, but I kind of love how it turned out!

I stamped the equalizer image repeatedly to create the 'stripes' represented by the sketch. I then die cut the super cute headphones and added those along with the sentiment to complete my card. I super love punny sentiments. Heh, heh...see what I did there? (Okay, so I didn't do it, so much, as MFT kindly did that for me by offering awesome punny sentiments in their sets, but... let's just go with it, K? K. Glad we had this talk.)

The colors are teal, pale blush pink, and thistle. I used black and grey on the headphones to keep them neutral, but also to allow them to pop off the patterned background. I had a ton of fun creating this card! I was quite happy for the sketch challenge and the inspiration it provided!

Beep! Beep!!!

It's ANYTHING GOES time on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog! The Design Team is playing with Penny Black products this week. I absolutely HAD to get this stamp when I saw it!!! After all, I DO drive one! *insert winky face here* You don't have to use Penny Black to play along, bug if you have some, we'd love to see what you do with them!

This is the Penny Black Miniful Hedgehog stamp. You guys. It's a Mini Cooper. And a hedgehog. And a couple of other cute animals, to boot. For REALS, it is fabulous. For reals, though. For reals. I used my Tombow markers and a waterbrush to watercolor the image. This was a new method for me, but it was a fun one to try and I like how bold the colors are! The Sun is from the Simon Says Stamp My Sunshine stamp set and the sentiment is borrowed from the MFT Tickled Pink stamp set. Don't be afraid to mix and match those stamp sets! Even if they are from different brands!

I added the 'chrome' with a silver pen and then used Glossy Accents to create a glass look over the windows once the watercolor had dried. Because this is all on watercolor paper, it stood up very well to all these treatments! Love that! You can find my complete supply list below.

Now it is YOUR turn! Create something fabulous (just make sure it is NEW, no backlinking is allowed), and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store! Yup! It's THAT easy! We can't WAIT to see you there!

Get in Shape!

Here is the good news: I am not going to make you exercise. I AM, however, going to encourage you to take part in this week's Get in Shape Challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog! We want to see you create shaped cards! It can by ANY shape other than square or rectangle. The design team is playing with Lawn Fawn products this week, making our shaped cards EXTRA adorable! YAY!

Hamster Hello by Jennifer Ingle #SimonSaysStamp #LawnFawn #JustJingle #MFTStamps #cards

I chose to use one of my MFT dies to create an easel/chalkboard shaped card. It's not a rectangle, dude. It has legs. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. For reals, though, I love this Die-Namics Blueprint shape for cards. It's just too much fun!!! I pulled out the Lawn Fawn Handsome Hamster stamps to create a fun little 'chalk' scene on my board using Simon Says Stamp white pigment ink.

Hamster Hello by Jennifer Ingle #SimonSaysStamp #LawnFawn #JustJingle #MFTStamps #cards

I layered the Lawn Fawn hello die cut over the same cut cut from white foam to give it dimension and an extra layer of white. I used the triangles from the Blueprints set to cut the banner pieces from gingham paper. Gingham CUTENESS, that is.

And now it's your turn! Create a shaped card (not square or rectangle!) and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store!

Life is Delicious!

That is pretty much my take, anyway. Life is delicious. And food is delicious. And you need food to live. Therefore, we are back to life being delicious! See how that works? (This is likely why I had to sign up for three fitness classes. For reals, though.)

I was recently sent these super cute Donut Die-namics and Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set to create something adorable. You guys, for REALS, these are so much fun!

DSCN7379

I decided to create a good ol' Dunkin Donuts strawberry frosted with sprinkles. Because I am a Boston girl, what can I say? I die cut the donut base and then inked the edges to make it look real-ish. (Yes, that is totally a word. Don't argue with me.) I then die cut the frosting and cut the sprinkles OUT of the frosting.

A couple of things to mention here: 1. I LOVE that these dies allow for so much flexibility! You can seriously create awesome layers. 2. I am a lazy crafter. There was NO WAY I was going to glue on a gagillion (yup, that's a word, too) tiny sprinkles, so I used some ingenuity to get that same dimension with less work.

Enjoy Life (detail)

I cut the sprinkles from the frosting layer and then adhered it to the inked donut base. I then used Ranger Enamel Accents to fill in the sprinkle 'holes' the die had left on the donut. They look like REAL SPRINKLES, YOU GUYS!!!!

Sigh.

I do so love when something comes together. For the background, I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Wide Stripe first, allowing it to dry thoroughly before continuing. I then did a little stamp surgery to cut the sentiment apart, bent it to make it curved like a donut, and then stamped and embossed it on the background above and below where I planned to place my donut using my Fiskars Stamp Press. I popped the donut up with a bit of foam tape and ended up with a SUPER stinking cute card.

It makes me happy. And hungry. Iced coffee and a donut, anyone?

Um, Excuse Me, I Believe You Have My Stapler

***Before getting started I wanted to announce the winner of my Season's Givings Giveaway! The winner is... Sandi! Congratulations, Sandi! Please email me with your full name and mailing address so I can get your prize out to you!***

Hiya! I am playing along with another fun challenge over on the My Favorite Things Card Challenges blog. This one is the color challenge.

These were the colors we had to work with. Fortunately, I recently got both the Tropical Teal and Persimmon ink, along with the tropical teal cardstock, so I knew I could work in a bit of limelight and lemon drop with what I had in my stash. I used the MFT Office Space stamp set (hence the blog post title...*wink* *wink*), with which I am, naturally, in love. I mean, FOR REALS! It has a Mac and a stapler in it! Why would anyone NOT want these stamps? LOVE!!!

Hold it Together

I used cardstock layers and strips to add a touch of color to the side of my design, while allowing the red...errrr... persimmon.... stapler to really stand out, framed by a pierced and embossed rectangle cut with Spellbinders Pierced Rectangles (yup...you can use just the piercing portion and skip the actual cut... LOVE that feature!!!).

I was surprised at how much I liked this color combination. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off, but I love the finished look!

If, for some reason, you are unfamiliar with Office Space, get thee to Amazon, my friend! Seriously...it's like $5. And you will understand my life to the greatest extent possible. HA!

...if they take my...my stapler, then I... I'll...I'll have to...I'll set the building on fire.

Have a Happy.
