Hello There!

So, here's the deal. Hello is my One  Little Word for the year. You may recall THIS Hello card that I posted just the other day. My word for the year inspired that card AND that giveaway (which ends today, by the way, so be sure to enter if you haven't already!). I used a super awesome Neat & Tangled stamp for that card. And THEN... the latest Little Tangles challenge came out yesterday with what theme? Oh. Yes. Hello.

Wellllllllll.... I simply HAD to create something for it. I mean, FOR REALS. It's my WORD, yo. But, since I had just used Neat and Tangled stamps for that other one I was a bit torn. I decided to use the same stamp again. Because I like it. Nope. Because I LOVE it.

I did. I used the Neat & Tangled Origami Map stamp and the coordinating die for the background of my card. I then used the super cute On the Corner stamp set. I used Distress inks to ink the background, splashed some water drops on there for texture, and used Distress Markers to color my image. I don't use those for coloring often, but they seemed to be what I was looking for this time around. I actually hand lettered the sentiment to get exactly what I wanted and I was surprised by how much I liked the results!

So, there it is! Something a little different with a potentially unlikely stamp combination, but I like it! It's fun!

I Love This Heart

Okay, WAIT! Before I begin, I want to tell you about something kind of super fun... I am on the CardMaker Magazing blog! WHAT?! Yup! And I think that's pretty awesome! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit over there along with some tips on using journaling cards in your card making, so be sure to head over and check it out!

Speaking of the October Simon Says Stamp Card Kit... You need it. For reals, though. I have been playing with it a TON, and I am so in love with it!

This heart stamp from the I See You stamp set is absolutely amazeballs and I love it super duper lots. For reals. Lots. And Lots. I colored it with Distress Markers, splashed some water to add some visual texture, and then outlined it with the Viva Decor Paper Pen in black. After that dried, I layered Glossy Accents over the entire thing for a sort of stained glass look. It makes me happy. It really does.

I used some of the embroidery floss behind the heart over that gorgeous patterned paper. A simple sentiment is all this one really needed!

If you haven't checked out this kit, seriously, you totally need to go buy it. It's that simple. I promise. This is probably my favorite one ever. For reals.

My Precious

Yes, I will openly admit that the primary reason I bought this adorable Winnie & Walter stamp set was because of the name. I mean, for reals, you guys! It's called MY PRECIOUS!!! And, yes, for the record, I do say it in my best Gollum voice. Every.single.time.

I stuck with a very simple design for this card. To add the color, in the spirit of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I tried something I hadn't done before. I placed a sheet of acetate over the image and then used distress markers to scribble color over each gem stone. I then spritzed the acetate with water to activate the inks, flipped it over, and pressed the color onto the paper. I kind of love how it turned out!

I will be honest, while I love the color technique and how that worked out, I do wish I had come up with a better way to place my sentiment on this one. It is just not feeling right. Even now. However, the truth is, I'm okay with that. I tried something new and it worked and that makes me happy!

Have a Happy, folks!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

Today we have a brand new Simon Says Stamp Challenge for you over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog! The challenge this week is SUMMER! We want to see your summer time creations. The design team is using Simon Says Stamp exclusives this week! You don't have to use them to join in, but we would love to see them if you have them!

Cheers, Sunshine!

For my summer time card I used the Adult Beverages stamp set, die set, and accompanying sentiments. I love this fun bunch of goodies! I stamped and embossed the drink glass on vellum and then used distress markers to color it and blend to create a yummy looking drink! The other pieces were stamped on white cardstock and colored with markers. I slit the glass so the straw could go through and slit the cherry to allow for the toothpick to go through that. Lots of fun stuff!

Cheers Sunshine (detail)

Now it's your turn! Create something with the summer theme and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store!

I Love You More Than Ice Cream. That's a Lot.

This may be the best sentiment of all time. It certainly is the most well suited sentiment for ME, that's for sure! For Reals, you guys. I would eat ice cream for every meal if I didn't feel like that might not be so good for me. It's my favorite thing in the world. I can pass on cheesecake, chocolate, etc.... but when ice cream is involved, well.... GIMME!

HA!

SO.... that being said, when my Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit arrived I nearly FLIPPED! I am SO in love with this kit! The stamps are BRILLIANT! The papers are super fun and, I confess, these are the very first distress markers to ever grace my studio and I am officially in LOVE with them!!!

More than Ice Cream

The kit also came with a sheet of Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I usually use Strathmore, so I enjoyed trying this paper out. It has a smooth side that offers a different look from a traditional, textured watercolor piece. I stamped my ice cream cone, masking and restamping to create the STACK o' ice cream and then added a bit of color with the distress markers. I then used a waterbrush to move the color and create a watercolor look. I LOVE it! The tab and heart are die cuts that came in the kit. Each kit comes with different ones, so yours will be a surprise!

For the cherry, I added a touch of Wink of Stella for a bit of shimmer and then coated it with Glossy Accents. Cherries simply MUST be shiny. I'm quite sure of it.

You can purchase the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit individually OR you can subscribe to have it arrive monthly. It's super flexible and I absolutely LOVE my kits! And the price can't be beat! Be sure to check them out!

You can find links to all of the products I used below.

Have a Happy!
