Something NEW!

Happy New Year! Our first Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge of the year is SOMETHING NEW! Yup! You can use something new as your theme or use brand new product on your project. The Design Team is featuring WPlus9 products this week. I LOVE WPlus9 so much! They have so many fun stamp set and dies! For my card, I decided to use NEW YOU as my inspiration! Many of our friends have likely made resolutions to better themselves in some way and it is always fun to encourage one another with handmade cards!

You Can Do It by Jennifer Ingle #SimonSaysStamp #Wplus9 #JustJingle #DearLizzy

I used two of my favorite WPlus9 sets for this one, Unforgettable and Encouraging Words . With a little masking, I was able to combine and image and a sentiment that wouldn't necessarily be made to go together. I thought the little elephant looked a bit like he was doing push-ups, so I added some leg warmers and a headband to the image to make him a little work-out elephant! CUTENESS!!!

I used some super cute wood grain patterned paper from the Dear Lizzy Documentary 6x6 paper pad. It sort of reminded me of a gym floor and went with my theme, so I ran with it! I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.

Now it's YOUR turn! Create something awesome inspired by the SOMETHING NEW theme and link it up over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for your chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store! WHAT?! Yup! Happy New Year to YOU! For reals, though.

You can find the supplies I used linked throughout my post. Thanks for reading!

Have a Happy!

A Quick Hello

Hello, friends! I have a quick layered card I created to share with you today. Basically, I pulled out a 6x6 paper pad and wanted to play with some patterns, so I DID! Because I can do that. And so can you. For reals, though.

Hello

I used the super fun Serendipity papers from the Dear Lizzy line. I just love them. They make me smile. Combined with the Big Hello die from Simon Says Stamp cut from Bazzill cardstock, this card came together super fast, and is totally fun!

I have some exciting news coming tomorrow, so be sure to stop by so you don't miss it!

A Freestyle Thank You

Winnie & Walter is having a HUGE birthday bash with a bunch of awesome challenges! I have some cards I will be sharing this week as I play along with a few of the challenges. I am a HUGE fan of Winnie & Walter (no, I don't design for them... just absolutely love them), and I am excited to play along! You can find the full list of challenges for the birthday bash HERE.

Thanks

I created this card with Gayatri's CAS + Freestyle Collage challenge in mind. I love this style and like to play with it now and then. I used the 'Thanks' sentiment from The Big, The Bold and You set. I fussy cut it freehand to add more to the collage feel. I used papers from the Serendipity 6x6 paper pad, with which I am, naturally, in love. For reals, though. It's AWESOME!

Thanks (detail)

I added a bit of DMC silver thread with the layers of paper pieces for some texture and a bit of sparkle. If you don't have these metallic threads in your stash, I STRONGLY urge you to buy a set! Seriously... they are totally a staple in my life now. I love them. Lots. The puffy heart stickers are from a great pack I picked up at Target from K&Company. I LOVE THEM!

It's good to be back to a traditional schedule after the holidays! I am looking forward to a fun year ahead!

Have a Happy!

This Is My Happy Place, These Colors, However....

Well, let's just say they are not colors I would normally combine. Actually, I rarely pick up purples of any kind and I never would have thought to combine them with brown tones. So, while it may not be my happy place of comfort inside a pretty little box... I am excited to have tried these fun colors out! I like how they play together! They came from this week's Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 color scheme. I am definitely going to try to stretch and use them a few more times this week!

This is My Happy Place

This sketch intrigued me, as I tend to forget about the diagonal. I loved the look, so I gave it a shot! Totally fun, dudes. And it's not even remotely difficult to achieve, so that makes it even better! I added the dark purple and the white glitter tapes for some definition and a bit more color in the design. I like how they peek through the letters of the die cut chipboard! YAY!

I did a bit of background tone on tone stamping with a great bubble stamp and a fun hexagon background from The Stamps of Life. I love these backgrounds!!!

Like I said, I hope to play with these colors a bit more and I am loving the sketches from class this week, so I will be pulling out a couple more of those, as well! Sometimes it's good to step OUT of your happy place and try something new! Who knows? Maybe you will discover that you CAN work with crazy colors! HA!

Have a Happy!
