2 Cards, Similar Products, Similar Design

Sometimes I like to get a couple of cute cards made without spending a super ton of time on them. Other times, I HAVE to get a couple of cute cards made without spending a super ton of time on them. HA! That being the case, I have found a few tricks along the way to allow me to achieve that goal. Using similar products and a similar, basic design can help you to create unique cards that stand alone beautifully, but come together rather quickly.





When I first saw these amazing Triplits dies designed by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix, I knew I HAD to have them! They offer SO many possibilities. You can cut the pieces you need and layer them as you wish, offering endless variety and flexibility! LOVE THAT! For this card I paired the Triplits Flower die set with an awesome new embossing folder from The Stamps of life. I kept the design simple, added a bit of twine, and layered colors and a bit of wood for texture and interest. I love this card. It is happy making.





And then I made THIS card! Because I used the same type of supplies, along with a similar layout, this one came together SUPER fast! For this one, I used the Triplits Leaf die set and another awesome embossing folder from The Stamps of Life. Instead of twine, I went for a burlap string for a more natural look.

Happy Wednesday, folks!  It is a snowy morning here in the great state of Massachusetts, which, of course, makes me wish I could be crafting instead of working, but, alas!  Instead, I will simply entertain you with a new challenge from the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!  Dun dun DUN!!!

This week we want to LAUGH!  Yup!  The challenge theme is Let's Have a Laugh!  Create a project that is funny in some way.  Make us smile!!!  The design team is playing with some VERY SUPER LOTSA fun stamps given to us by Paper Smooches!  I personally think Paper Smooches may have corned the market on adorable puns and I DO so love a good pun!  I mean, they are just so PUNNY!!!! Bwahahaha!  See what I did there?  Yeah.  K.  ANYWAY......  moving on to my card...



I used the super fun We Totally Click stamp set for my card with some great inks from Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp.  I love how well these inks work with solid image stamps!  I also really liked that I could add my smiley face to just ONE of the cute little clicky pens.  I chose this image specifically because The Hubbums is obsessed with clicky pens!  He LOVES those things!  Particularly good quality ones.  I mean, the man seeks out a great clicky pen.  LOL!  This seems like a perfect Valentine Card for him!  Or just an everyday card for him, too!  YAY!

Summer Favorites

Today I want to share some summer favorites with you! We are coming up on a holiday weekend here in the United States, which means you may have a bit of time to do some crafting or maybe even SHOPPING, so I figured I'd do my duty as a member of the craft community and enable you as much as possible. HA! So...here's what I'm loving right now...

1.  Studio Calico Atlantic Collection

I am in LOVE!  it's gorgeous and there are woodgrain sequins involved.  Seriously.  What's NOT to love about that?  For reals.

2.  CAS-ual Fridays Shenanigans Stamp Set - I mean, seriously, folks.  It has the word SHENANIGANS in stamp form.  Done deal, my friends.  Just sayin'.

3.  Kelly Purkey Phone Set Dies - Yup.  Totally love it.  Yup.  It's totally awesome.  Yup.  Totally just ordered it yesterday.  HA!

4.  Simon Says Stamp Cupcake Party - Cupcakes, fireworks, a giant polka dotted circle, AND awesome borders.   Yup.  It's an awesome set.  Just puttin' that out there.

5.  American Crafts Mayberry Collection - Hello, cuteness!  That's all.

6. Hero Arts Love Jar stamp set - Ummm...I just got this one.  I just think it's super adorable.  AND, I love that it has great variety in it so you can do some totally fun and different things with it.

7.  Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Golden Glitz Delicata - GORGEOUS gold ink that doesn't tarnish or fade?  Yes, please!

8.  Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Gold & Silver Shimmer Spritz - Metallics are HUGE right now!  I love how, unlike the color sprays, these spritzes offer a subtle metallic shimmer to your project without laying on the color!  GORGEOUS!

9.  Sizzix Big Shot in Powder Blue and Teal - It is SO PRETTY!  I know the Big Shot isn't a new product or anything, but I just recently got mine and I am LOVING that thing!  And...it's so PRETTY!!!!

10.  Bossy Joscie Flair in awesome metallics!  These are SO GORGEOUS!  While you are there, check out the new rainbow flair and the map ones, too.  Just sayin'.

In other news... Newton's Nook Designs, a brand new stamp company, is opening this month, and guess what?!!!!

Simon Says Dream Big!

Do you remember back to school time when YOU were the one going back to school? I loved it! I still like to buy a pack or two of crayons every year. There is just nothing better than the sweet smell of a brand new box of Crayolas! Of course, I hate actually using them because I love the pure, beautiful untouched molded shape of them! LOL! Back to school time is a time full of dreams and new beginnings! It's all just so excited!

Well, enough of all that sappiness...seriously...it's getting sticky in here! HA! The new Simon Says Stamp Challenge for this week is all about Back to School! And the Design Team members have pulled out some fun Sizzix goodies to use for this great challenge!


I created this fun card using watercolor paper so I could get a nice, deep, beautiful impression from the Sizzix Rustic Trellis Ink-Its die. This is a letterpress style die, so you can use it plain, as I've done here, or add ink to it for a colored impression! I love it! I used the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Calico Borders set for the alphabet stamp and added just a pop of color with PrismaColor pencils! The fabulous globe is from the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Wonderful World set and the Dream Big sentiment comes from the Heyday Sentiments set.

And...if I can take a moment to gush, I have to tell you about a toy I got a few weeks ago that I am head over heels in LOVE with now! The Corner Chomper.

I know...you think I'm crazy, but seriously, you guys. This thing ROCKS! It is a super strong corner rounder with both a 1/4 in. size and a traditional 1/2 in. size. It goes through any and all paper and can chomp chipboard, too! I LOVE IT!!!! I used it on this card and it cleanly and easily went through two layers of watercolor paper at once! My old corner rounder would have struggled with ONE layer of watercolor paper because it's so thick! So...if you happen to like to round corners, I HIGHLY recommend this amazing tool! For reals. Just say'n.
