Piles, Cases, and General Mayhem

Yup. That's pretty much what's on my workspace. The Allstate guy. (P.S. If you happen to live outside the US and you don't know about the Allstate guy and haven't seen his commercials, you should totally google them because they are freaking hilarious. Just say'n.)

However, at the moment, he is pretty much standing on my desk. No. For reals. There is the Mayhem Guy ... and he is standing ON my desk in my studio. Wanna see? K. Here ya go!

I have, at this point, honestly considered paying someone to come organize with me for a day JUST to help me get this room under control. I know I usually just show you the desk, but trust me...the Mayhem is not contained! HA! There is just that little detail that when you pay someone you have to actually give them money....HAHAHA!!!! I guess I will be doing it myself. *sigh* LOL!

This is my XXL, which remains half unpacked. Yup. Totally the one I took with me to the Crop for Tornado Relief. Yup. Totally should be unpacked by now. Just say'n.

*sigh* The problem is simple, really. I like to make stuff. I work full time, commute 10 hours a week, and have many responsibilities in my life. Therefore and forthwith, I like to spend the time in my studio actually CREATING and not cleaning. All well and good until the place explodes into it's current state. YIKES!!!

The good news is that I have a little card to show you today!

Happily Ever After

This is just a fun one I created rather quickly. I used Echo Park paper, lots of ribbon, and a cute little sentiment from Unity.

happily ever after (detail)

I hope you have a super fantabulous Wednesday! It's gonna be a hot one here! You won't see me complaining, though...I do a lot of that come winter! HA!

  1. Totally love the Allstate Mayhem commercials! My dh thinks I'm in love Mayhem...he is kinda cute! Ha. That you work full time and have brain cells to be creative after a long day working is amazing to me. My desk can get messy but not like yours...only proves your creativity is not stymied by a mess! Rock on, Girlie, who cares about the mess when you make something as cute and sweet as this card!! Love it:)

  7. oh wow, at least you have a tiny space to work in! I don't blame you for not wanting to spend your precious time cleaning up, crafting time is never long enough! Beautiful card, love the ribbon roses!

  9. I still haven't unpacked from a crop night I went to in early June-I'm totally feeling you on the need to create vs clean. :)
Love the pretty ribbon flowers-wish I could do that but mine always looks so crazy when I try it. :)

  10. Love what you made, and know the cleaning up dilemma - have just tidied and organised my closet full of crafting things - yuck! I hate it! Valerie

  11. I love mayhem! Well the guy in the commercial not real mayhem, lol! I'm full force creating right now and it looks like a tornado hit my studio so I totally understand!

  12. I know that guy well - not just from the Allstate ads, but from years of playing Ryan O'Reilly on HBO's OZ. Ohhhhhh! He was not the most BRUTAL prisoner at OZ but he was DEFINITELY the slimiest! LOVED that sick-o show! Love your newest card MORE! And - don't laugh - but I'm as AWESOME at organizing (think anal Virgo) as I am terrible at sewing and paper creating! Wish I WERE there to help you - AT NO CHARGE!!!! But the truth is, I'd rather see you be creative than neat! LOVE YOU!

  13. Love the colorful card! I have no idea how you can create such lovely things with that tiny bit of space on your craft mat. I would totally come help you organize - looks like you need some help! LOL. Hope you get some good creating in today. :)

  17. Ha! Your desk looks like mine! When I can't stand it any more I move to the family room. At least I know that room will be cleaned up! Still have the craftroom desk to tackle, and the floor, and the list goes on....
Love the ribbon flowers! Just stunning!

  18. I LOVE the Allstate Mayhem guy, especially the GPS one. Recalculating...turn left NOW! When they play the commercials on the radio they customize it by having him give Arizona street references. It's pretty cool. But yeah, the Mayhem guy is totally all over your desk. Mine can be pretty messy but not that bad. hahaha.

    The card is fabulous!

It's gonna be a scorcher here today, too, but I'm the opposite of you. I complain during the summer and wish the winters were longer and more exciting.

  19. I work fulltime too but luckily don't have as long a commute as you. I vote down with cleaning! May just have to google that ad as we don't have it here. Good luck with your desk - if you find it....

  21. I would totally help you organize ( you know I did that before) and all you have to pay me is let me take your trash...lol

  22. OMGOSH...I can ALWAYS count on giggles when I read your post for the day..thank you!!

I like those commercials wayyy to much..LOL!! Hummm, perhaps that's why they took him off "Rescue me"..he was causing to much mayhem. OK I know so sad but I just couldn't resist. ^_^

If I was close I would come and help you tidy up BUT sometimes it's best if we do it ourselves. SO many new ideas can just pop up when we discover items that have been covered up.

Adore the card...love the ribbon roses.

  34. I can totally relate. I get mine part of the way clean, lose interest in cleaning and start creating and it's a disaster again!! Your card is super cute...nice work!

  35. Teehee, just getting a little chuckle at the frazzled desk and then the calming card, which is beautiful by the way.

I too have to clean my scrap/craft room. I need to find some places for my new goodies ;)

  36. i know what you mean about cleaning vs creating. i'm always faced with that challenge. and even when i pick cleaning, that mayhem guy still sticks around my desk!

  37. Hey Jingle...love this post, and of course...you are not alone, especially with all these creatives!

  38. I just saw my first Allstate commercial the other day. It was a hoot. Loved it. And your desk would certainly qualify.

Gotta LOVE those awesome flowers on that card. Really want to know how you made them.

  39. I forgot to tell you, I bake my eggplant. You can fry it in olive oil and dusted with flour and egg, then smother it with a tomato sauce, but that's too much trouble unless I'm having company. Of course,I've also come to love it (this summer due to the heat) cubed and cooked in the microwave for about three to four minutes, then covered in your favorite cheese, butter, sour cream, whatever. Or you can eat it plain with just a bit of herbal seasoning. Just remember, it's one of the few veggies that must be cooked in order to eat it.
