Christmas Trees Aren't So Much Christmas Trees

After seeing the interesting takes designers took in the June issue of Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine using seasonal stash for non-holiday related projects, I wanted to give it a shot! I pulled out some fun Lawn Fawn stamps and some great ink colors to see what I could do!

Hello

And now you may be thinking... "ummm.... there is nothing particularly seasonal about any of that. I mean, honestly, 'Hello' doesn't exactly scream CHRISTMAS and HALLOWEEN! Jingle, I do believe you have officially lost it."

That may be true, however, it is entirely unrelated to this card, as I PROMISE I used Christmas stamps! Yup! Christmas! Specifically, I used the Lawn Fawn Let It Snow stamp set! (Hmmm... Let it Snow sounds a lot like Let it Go and there is that whole... snow falling white on the mountain tonight... yup. That's in my head. Again. And now it's yours, too. You are very welcome.) K. Moving on.

Hello (detail)

To create the background, I first stamped the AWESOME Wide Striped Background from Simon Says Stamp. I then used the trees from the Lawn Fawn set to create a chevronesque (that's a word now) pattern. I chopped the trunks off with my handy dandy Cutter Bees. I can still use them both on a block if I want trees, but I'm kind of liking the pattern builder better! HA! I then used the curvy line stamp from that set to add some interest to my stripes. I LOVE how it turned out! The sentiment is the Simon Says Stamp Big Hello die, stacked several times. LOVE!

You can check out the links below to find the supplies I used.

Have A Happy!

P.S. I created TWO fun cards using new stamps from Unity and I am linking those up to Friends With Flair this week. They DO, however, contain language not suitable for all, therefore, I have kept them in my Flickr feed. You are welcome to go check them out if you are okay with language! LOL! (Mom, don't click on these links, k? K. Thanks and I love you.)

  10. I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for the idea of using your xmas tree stamp for something else. I don't have many stamps but knew I had a xmas tree somewhere. Had a play with it today, its fantastic and made some brilliant graphic patterns. It also got me looking at some of my other stamps. I don't have any flower stamps but found a bird stamp (from the same xmas stamp set) and managed to turn it into petals of a flower...yippee! So thanks so much for your inspiring ideas!!!!
