New Reading Material and the Stirrings of a New Project {WOYWW}

***Sandra...I posted the PIF gift at the end of this post, so don't go all the way down since I know it probably isn't in Australia yet! LOL!***

WOYWW 8June2011

Yup. I know...you are terribly disappointed. My desk is fairly clean. And...I honestly don't usually pull out supplies like that until I am ready to sit down and work on the project, but I had this idea and I was to create it tonight and my desk was so boring all cleared off like that, so I took out the supplies last night and began to formulate my ideas just because I knew I'd have to take this photo! HA! Oh!!! And ... you can also see my spoils from last night's trip to the bookstore! Yup! Diane Mott Davidson's new book, Crunch Time! I can't WAIT to read it! I absolutely ADORE her books and basically feel like I am good friends with Goldy, the main character and I have missed her so much! LOL! Plus...they take place in Colorado, so it's like I get a little visit back there every time I read them. I do miss those mountains sometimes! I also have a copy of the latest Stamper's Sampler there. I haven't actually purchased that one prior to this, so I am curious to see if I will be addicted or if it will be a once in awhile kinda gig. We shall see.

Here are the doo-dads I pulled for my project. Actually, now that I look at it, I pulled stuff for at least two projects! HA! I need to figure out a good way to change the color of that red cap on that bottle. Painting isn't my first choice, so if you can think of any other fabulous options, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts. I would like something more subtle and vintage...something that goes better with the color tones of the lace and mesh ribbon and vintage papers that I am going to use.

You can also see the fun new digital collage sheet from Retro Cafe Art! I haven't used it yet, but I love it, so I will be cutting some of those images soon!

And here is the little giftie I sent as my PIF for last week's celebration! It is on it's way to Australia, although, not there yet, as it took me a few days to be able to go to the Post Office to fill out the forms and such. I created a little WOYWW key fob! It's great for keys, but it could also be used to hold supplies like metal rings, or just to hang around looking cute!

The stamped strips are leather and the chain and 'play' tag are both Tim Holtz. I added a pretty little flower to give it a pop of fun color! I kinda wish I had made one for me, too! LOL!

I hope you all have a super fabulous Wednesday! Don't forget to head on over to Julia's place to check out all of the great spaces!

  1. Hey Jen, your workspace is much cleaner than mine! I keep saying I need to tidy up, but then when I begin I usually find something I want to work with! You've inspired me - I'll get started right after...!!!

  7. Tidy, hmmmm kinda tidy LOL.
The bottle, what about alcohol ink in a vintage colour, then you could use sandpaper to distress it slight or use tissue tape? You will show us the results and what you ended up doing?

  15. Like your work space, clean or cluttered it all looks inspiring to me. As for a way to alter your bottle top while keeping it vintage...I guess the easiest thing would be to cover it with several layers of old book pages and modpodge or do the old-fashioned fabric circle bottle topper in ecru and creams or just use a doily and some ribbon. Those are my suggestions! Hope you figure it out:)

  18. Cool PIF gift! As for the lid, what about one of those mini-cupcake holders, tied on upsdie-down with a string? (Did that make sense?)You could stamp it before you put it on, with one of your many awesome stamps!

  19. Although I do regularly TRY and keep my work area tidy a person really can NEVER have too much flat space. Stuff needs to conveniently at hand!

  27. Sweet project! And messiness and art go hand in hand!

I get the Take Ten magazine (my absolute favorite) but haven't checked out the stamper's sampler ... are they similar? Love Stampington!

  28. I found out the hard way this week that the best way to tidy up is to open the window at the same time someone opens the front door in a howling gale. The resulting chaos forces a proper tidy up and put away. You have a busy but organised workspace there.

  29. Fab stuff on your desk this week - I look forward to seeing what you create with it....

  30. I would make a little fabric mop cap for that bottle.

  31. I want to see what you make with that stash. What about sticky backed metal and alcohol inks for your red top or tissue tape and Distress ink it.
Sorry I am late but I have been away.
