Being YOU is always Okay. Just say'n.

I have been greatly inspired and encouraged by a few things I've come across recently and today I'd like to share a couple of those with you.

Have you ever had someone challenge your very being? Has anyone ever told you that being who you are is not acceptable? Have you been told you need to change who you are to match the expectations of some other party? Read this. Hear this. Believe this:

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?

Why are you beset with gloom?

'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells

Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,

With the certainty of tides,

Just like hopes springing high,

Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?

Bowed head and lowered eyes?

Shoulders falling down like teardrops.

Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?

Don't you take it awful hard

'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines

Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,

You may cut me with your eyes,

You may kill me with your hatefulness,

But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?

Does it come as a surprise

That I dance like I've got diamonds

At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame

I rise

Up from a past that's rooted in pain

I rise

I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,

Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear

I rise

Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear

I rise

Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,

I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise

I rise

I rise

Yup.  Inspiring.  And ever so true.  Always be who you are and NEVER let anyone tell you that who you actually are is not okay.  That being said, don't lie to yourself, either, and pretend to be something you are not.  Just Be.  Trust me...it's a happy thing.

I know for some the above poem may have very different meaning, but for me, that is right where it hit and spoke to me.

I've also been greatly inspired by a couple of songs lately, so I am sharing those with you today.  Go into your weekend encouraged to JUST BE!  It will be GREAT!!!

So...go create something that represents YOU! A photograph, a piece of art, a recipe, your very own yoga pose...I don't care what it is, I just give you this challenge today! GO and BE!

Jingle Out...
...but always me.

Just say'n. ;-)

Me, My Random Video, and some Steampunk Goodness. Just say'n.

Yup. So, yesterday on my Facebook page I randomly put out there that I was considering creating a video for today. WELLLLLL....perhaps one should not say such things when one does not have a PLAN for such things.

Just say'n.

But, since a few people said they wanted one, I did one. HA! Without a plan! DOUBLE HA! I had planned to use my Flip, but it appeared that The Hubbums must have taken it to school with him, as it was not anywhere in the apartment and, well, it's really difficult to lose stuff in there now seeing as there is pretty much nothing there. Just say'n. Soooo...I wabcammed it. I do apologize for the dark lighting - it was the best I had! So, here you go. Me. And all my randomness. Enjoy.

AND...As I mentioned in the video, I DID, indeed, get to create last night! *LOVE* AND in doing so I created a few different things! One of them being this fabulous little steampunk notebook! *HEART!!!*

(I do apologize for the photos - my lighting is really bad right now at home. I can't wait to get decent light back in place! LOL!)

To create this I began with a simple pocket notebook and covered it with gorgeous Samantha Walker papers from Creative Imaginations! The stamps are Scrolls Work steampunk stamps and I LOVE THEM!!!! I finished it off with some copper tape and just a tiny scrap of fabric (Samantha Walker for Riley Blake Designs)! I love the end result!

It was super fun to get my hands playing again! Now I am even MORE excited to get my new studio unpacked and ready to create again!!! It's gonna be GREAT!!! (I mean like Frosted Flakes kind of great! THAT great. For reals. Just say'n.)

I am joining the following parties:

My Current Workspace - Ready for me to come PLAY tonight! {WOYWW}

Yup! You heard that right! I have some semblance of a workspace and I fully intend to create something new tonight! It's not perfect, but I have enough to produce something and cut some paper and get my hands working, so that is good enough for me!

Yup. My XXL. My paper cutter. AND...right there you happen to also see some fabulous goodies from the Stampin' Up! My super wonderful demo, Judi, dropped these goodies off for me! Super sparkly glass glitter in two colors, some fresh, gorgeous white cardstock, and some fun fat quarters, too! YAY!!!

AND...I got a super fun and super sweet package from the wonderful Michelle! She offered this stamp on her blog and then she added all of these fabulous extras!!! I am so excited about those leaves and charms and...well, all of it!!! Thanks, Michelle!

THIS is my box of goodness from the ever fabulous Samantha Walker! I am DYING to dig into this and show off this fabulous stuff! Tonight I get to play and I PROMISE I will be using the contents of this box!!! I can't wait!!!!

Wanna know the funny part of all this? Each of these have come in during the whole moving process. The Hubbums, being the ever supportive kind of guy he is, hasn't complained, but I KNOW it has GOT to be driving him nuts that new stuff is coming in JUST as we are trying to move everything out! LOL!

Anyway, I totally have time to create tonight after dealing with some laundry stuff and I really can't even begin to tell you how stoked I am about that. For reals, you guys. These hands have not had NEARLY enough contact with scissors, paper, glue, etc. lately! I don't have my paints and clay and all that, but I do have a ton of great stuff (shown above) that I fully intend to make fabulous! I can't wait!!! For now, however, I must be off to work. I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!!!

It's Time For Sketch Tuesday With Skipping Stones Design!

...And...it's time to really start thinking about making Christmas cards!  Today we are featuring the Christmas Swirls set from Skipping Stones Design!

Why are we featuring this set? Oh, I don't know...maybe because it is WAY easy to use and WAY cute and WAY fun! Yup. Lotsa ways, but they are all totally for real!

Shannan created a fabulous sketch for the team to work with, as well!

Soooo, here's the deal, the Stamp Tramps have all created fabulous cards with this sketch along with our guest designers for this month! This is what YOU need to do...check out all the cards and use them as the fabulous inspirational springboard that they are and then RUN and CREATE your own card using the sketch and any supplies you have at home! Post a link to your card on SSD's blog and YOU could WIN!!! Yup. Winning is fun. You get a fabulous badge for your blog to show off your win AND you get a treat, too! Yup. Winning is totally fun!

I have a confession. I've had this card made for a week and a half now. Yup. It isn't the best one I've ever made, but at least there is some excuse for that! HA! It was made at the same time as last week's card when I still had some remaining stuff on my desk...that was still standing. HA! My stuff is still packed up, but it's pretty much killing me, so I fully intend to find a way to create over the next couple of days. FOR. REALS. you guys. Moving is stressful, yes, but totally doable, but this whole going without creating thing...that is pure suckage and I'm pretty much done with it. We went to IKEA last night to get some curtains for the new house and a lamp for my studio since there is no overhead lighting and I saw inspiration EVERYWHERE! It was killer! I can't wait to create again!!!

SOOO...that is why YOU GUYS simply MUST participate in this week's sketch! I need you to create so I can live vicariously through you! HA! No...but, really, though. I'm only sort of kidding. GO MAKE SOMETHING!

Today I am linking with the following parties:

CSN WINNER and a Call for Shop Owners!

Yes. We are still doing the whole moving thing. Yes. We are tired of it. Yes. I am greatly looking forward to being in our new home on the 15th!

That was the last of it last night. Even now, there is less there, as we loaded up The Hubbums' car and he is dropping that off today after school. Other than that, we have the bedroom full of clothing and shoes and the air mattress and a few essentials. Everything else has been moved.  YAY!

*Note:  If you need my new address please shoot me an email and I will get that to you!

Also, I wanted to put a shout out to those of you who have shops, products, services, etc. that you offer. I am announcing a giveaway winner today and I have another one lined up for later this week.  I would love to feature YOUR shop and YOUR product with a giveaway here on Just Jingle.  If you are interested you would get a feature post written up sharing your shop/product and you would just need to provide a quality item to giveaway.  Please let me know if you would like to take advantage of this offer!  I love featuring shops, but it has been awhile since I have done any other than CSN so I would like to get in touch with you guys and get your names out there!!!
