Sometimes a message pops up in your inbox that you just aren't expecting. Sometimes, a message pops up in your inbox that brings tears to your eyes. Sometimes, a message pops up in your inbox that brings tears to the eyes of your husband.
One day, not too long ago, one of those messages popped up in my inbox.
Catherine Pooler and Chaitali Narla popped up in my inbox. They had seen me post a link to a GoFundMe that I had set up for my husband, Sean's, classroom. And they wanted to help. Today is the result of that message. This stamp set. This blog hop. And it still brings tears to my eyes. There is simply no way to express how thankful I am that this amazing group of talented designers have come together to help Sean's students get Chromebooks in their classroom.
Why Chromebooks? Because they are affordable and offer everything these kids need access to in the classroom. They are also durable and classroom ready, making them easier to set up, maintain, and use to share documents, classroom materials, and resources with the students. You can read Sean's thoughts here: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/chromebooks-for-urban-education/2208813/.
Why are they needed? Because the school can't buy them. They also haven't provided curriculum for Sean to use, so he has to create his own. Great teachers create their own curriculum often, and he is capable of doing this, but he does need his students to have access to resources. This is what these funds will be providing. They will allow Sean's students the opportunity to say, "Hello, World!"
All profits from the sale of the Hello World stamp set and the coordinating dies from Saturday October 1 - Friday, October 7 will purchase computers and other school supplies for Sean’s classroom in Boston.
I can’t wait to see how this week unfolds and how many computers we can provide for these kids!!!I combined the Hello World stamp set and Hello World dies with the beautiful Lovely Flowers stamp set, also releasing today from Catherine Pooler! Isn't the Hello World set AMAZING?! Chaitali stunned me with her thoughtful creativity in the design of this set. It couldn't be more perfect for our purpose! I love how well these worked together, and I simply HAD to use the Hello, World sentiment. As a woman who lives in the tech world... it's fun to combine girly things with computer things sometimes... totally throws the guys off. ;) LOL!
I want to take a moment to thank each and every person on this blog hop for participating and also for each and every one of you who has taken the time to hop today. It means a lot to me. The WORLD, actually. And it means a lot to Sean. And, while they don't know it yet, it means so very much to each and every one of his middle school students.
As a thank you, I'd like to offer a SURPRISE stamp set (okay, probably more than that) to one commenter on my blog. Simply leave a comment by 7 October 2016 and I will randomly select one winner. Be sure there is a way I can contact you.
If you are just finding the hop here on my blog, please take a moment to check out these amazing designers!

ReplyDeleteYou couldn't have picked a better way to celebrate WCMD than to host a fundraiser for education! I have a lot of friends who teach in school that lack the necessary tools and supplies and I hope your husband's classroom is welcoming new chromebooks in no time!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck reaching and hopefully exceeding your goal.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty card! Great cause!
ReplyDeleteJennifer I am honored to be a small part of this project helping the kids at your husband's school. Please thank Sean for giving all of an opportunity to give back. <3
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and so pretty!
ReplyDeletePretty, simple card.
ReplyDeleteLove your card!! Simple and beautiful! So glad to be a part of this wonderful event! I had told myself I wasn't going to buy anything today but when I saw this set and read the story about Sean's class I knew that I simply had to buy it! I am not a teacher but have many friends who are and they put so much of their own money into keeping the kids supplied with the bare necessities so they can succeed! To me this goes back to the saying that it takes a village to raise a child. To me schooling is a major part of raising them and I am so happy to be able to be a part of this! I hope that enough money is raised that not only can Sean;s class get computers but maybe even a second or third classroom can too! If I could afford to I would buy 5 or 10 computers to get this off to a great start! What IS the price of one computer? Maybe you could do some type of a raffle to raise even more funds. If you want to contact me at macaskillbarbara at yahoo.com I am a darn good fundraiser and would be more than willing to throw out some ideas and help you make them happen. Let me know and we can get together and chat. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful wreath card! Best of luck in this great endeavor to help the kids in Sean's class!
ReplyDeleteLove this festive CAS card and love the great cause behind your hop! My husband is a teacher.,as are many of our friends, and we know how often instructors have to supply their own classrooms or make do with inadequate funds. Best to luck in our quest to furnish Sean's classroom with everything they need

I am glad I could help. I love working with kids myself at church and can't imagine it without a computer. I hope they get all they need. Cheryl Jones jonescanet@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful card to support a wonderful cause. I hope your husband's school is blessed with the resources to get everything it needs, including computers for all the students! Teaching is a calling more than a job and I pray he is blessed in all that he does.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely. I think this is an incredible cause to give back. I'm delighted to participate. Jingle...isn't it sad that here in America our schools are not funded or way underfunded. That brings tears to my eyes. Our children and our Vets. My oh my, it breaks my heart. I was glad to help. I'm also donating a private donate on the go fund page.
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple but oh so lovely card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to raise money for a worthwhile cause! I love this!!

ReplyDeleteI love your card. I hope you'll keep us updated on how the fundraiser did. Best of luck to your husband and his students. I work for a school district so I know that the teachers go above and beyond and money is always tight.
ReplyDeleteI pray that this hope is successful and brings the much needed computers to your husbands class. This is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous is this?! What an awesome collaboration. Does your state offer educational tax credits? Here in Arizona we can set aside up to $200 per taxpayer to the school and/or program of our choice. AND it's a credit, dollar for dollar.
ReplyDeleteJust trying to multiply all our efforts... Cheryl

ReplyDeleteLovely card. As a past teacher (of pre-schoolers) I know how much you come to love the children in your classes. I applaud your husband and you for wanting to do this for them. And special thanks to Catherine and her team for setting this up. God Bless!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I am so excited to be a part of this! How fantastic is it,that a group of stamps can actually do something that will have such a lasting effect on both the children of the school for years to come, plus the parents and the children's futures, and from a state and or country that most of us are not even from! I am so proud of everyone involved! Wouldn't it be a great thing to continue from year to year, for different schools! I hope that Sean's children enjoy their computer(s). Hopefully we will be able to see them with their computer! Blessings! Oh my Gosh, I love your card! So beautiful! Bless you and your husband for all you do! Lisa
