Welcome to the inner workings of the mind of Jingle. Just Say'n.
Here's the thing...do you recall THIS POST? You know, the one about three of the most hideous words in the English language? I know...it was a SUPER DUPER long time ago, so if you haven't checked it out, well, be aware...they are HIDEOUS words. And...over the last few days I have come to a conclusion. I need to add a rather ordinary word to that list. Ordinary, yet, HIDEOUS!!! DOWN RIGHT HIDEOUS, I tell you!!!
Yup. As in...
There is no particular significance to that photo other than the fact that it caught my attention...it is rather curious, is it not? Well, anyway...back to meat. You see, this one is not an aesthetic problem, as so many horrible words tend to be. Nope. It's not the sound, it isn't a problem with the way it rolls of the tongue...at least not so much. It can't be, because I simply have no problem with the word 'meet' which, by all audible counts is the same word.
And yet it is not. At all.
If I say I will meet you at the Scrapbook store on Saturday morning...well, there is nothing offensive in that, nothing cringe-worthy, nothing even rather notable other than the fact that we get to go to the scrapbook store, which is ALWAYS a good thing. Just say'n.
However...the word MEAT in and of itself is somehow different from meet and horrible. Absolutely horrible. Mind you, I am not a vegetarian. I have no real issues with people eating chicken, beef, etc.... And...those words don't bother me...chicken, beef, ham, bacon....nope. I can string those suckers together all the living long day with not a care in the world, but lately...I simply CANNOT stand the word 'meat.'
It's brutish. It's grotesque. Perhaps it is simply too blunt. It's mono-syllabic quality may be the single feature that destroys this newly loathed four letter word. Hmmmm....not sure. All I can tell you is that it is simply atrocious and I plan to use it as little as possible from now until eternity. Which may or may not be Saturday. Just say'n.
Sooooo....there you have it. My tirade on the word...M***. I can't use it anymore, remember? So...wanna see a card? *HUGE GRIN & SLIGHTLY SHIFTY EYES*
I created this card for a woman my husband works with at the school. She recently had a loss in the family and The Hubbums asked me to create a card. Sympathy cards can be hard, but I really like the way this one turned out. I hope it really brightened her day!
The ribbon flower was created using a simple length of satin ribbon. The papers are all Crate Paper and the stamps are Samantha Walker for Unity. I had actually planned on posting this Friday for Friends with Flair (and I will likely still link it up!) but I realized that Friday is going to JAM PACKED with GIVEAWAY DAY posts, so I decided to post it today, instead! YAY!
This is the inside of the card. I sneaked (yes, apparently that is grammatically correct) a Skipping Stones sentiment in there, too to finish it off.
I hope you have a FABULOUS Thursday AND I hope you will all be back tomorrow for GIVEAWAY DAY!!! We will have giveaways posted EVERY HOUR throughout the day tomorrow! I can't WAIT!!!
Love your sympathy card, much nicer than those cemetery gates and weeping willows! But WHAT is wrong with meat??? Have a nice day, Valerie
ReplyDeletePS my word verification just now is shmsempot, that's worse than meat!
Beautiful card Jingle, and cracking up and your HATE for the word MEAT!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fabulous day!
what a wonderful card!
ReplyDeleteGreat card!! Funny on the meat ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your crate paper creations but seriously on the word "meat"? Gotta love a good meat steak
ReplyDeleteDefinitely prefer 'meet me at the scrapbook store' over the other word. LOL. Beautiful card, too!
ReplyDeleteBTW my word verification is sagami which sounds a lot like salami.... hope that word's okay!
such a pretty card! :) I don't care for meat- not the word, but actual red meat. So I liked your little rant about the word. lol
ReplyDeleteI love your card! So pretty and soft. While I am no vegan either, meat as a word does not bother me, but handling it always has!! Yuck! The smell hits me first, then the feel of it. Yuckiness through and through...but I do love a tasty meal made with shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, pork, etc.
ReplyDeleteI've really never thought about this!! I'm going to have to think about the word, m**t...so far, sounds alright to me!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the cards, though...just lovely.
You crack me up. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteLove your card -- your rant, not so much! I love meat! Have a great day!

OMG Jingle...You my dear are nutz...lol But I love you! Card is gorgeous as always...I highly suggest You and the Hubbums venture on down to Dr. Gonzos Uncommon Condiments on Main Street in worcester and find out when their next m**t on a stick challenge is..you dont have to say the word but definately a good way to spend a few hours of your weekend afternoon...
ReplyDeleteI've been a vegan for the last 17 years and I agree with you;) I used to go to a vegan retaraung that served a dish called "meet 'n loaf" it was a veggie meatlof made from lentals;)
