The Magic Stitcher - Vintage Thingies Thursday

***Don't forget to check out my post HERE to join in my month long Blogiversary Celebration! I have something in mind to add to the prize pot that I will share with you soon!***

Seriously. Isn't that the coolest thing you have ever seen????

Want to know what is even cooler?

I own it.

Yup! I am now the proud owner of a Magic Stitcher!!! I am so stinking excited about it! LOL! I bought it from this fun little shop on Etsy called Beca Runs because, well, as you can see from the instruction booklet - "No woman should be without one!" HA! If you know me at all you know how amazingly WRONG I think that statement is, but due to it's age I can't help but to find it a bit endearing.

The Magic Stitcher was made by Albin Enterprises and is really very neat! I haven't tried to actually use it yet, but I am totally going to! Here are a few things that the instruction booklet has to say about it:

"Adds that "professional" look to hand sewing."

"Be your own tailor and save with the MAGIC STITCHER. Easy to use, too. You can blind stitch an entire hem without rethreading!!! And just look at all the other stitches you can make with the MAGIC STITCHER:
BASTING TAILOR TACKING APPLIQUE
SMALL STITCHES SMOCKING SHIRRING
QUILTING OVERCASTING CHAING

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and see for yourself how easy hand sewing is with the wonderful MAGIC STITCHER."

HA! Yup...that's a direct quote! Horrible sentence structure, a lack of exclamation points where you think you might want them and then a few extras in one spot, lol! And the use of caps is simply fabulous! Love that!

Here is what the back of the pamphlet says:

"MAGIC STITCHER...pays for itself with a beautifully concealed "Blind Stitch Hem"
* Be your own tailor

*Fits any purse - in size and price

* Give your hem the professional touch

* MAGIC STITCHER needs no rethreading

* This stitch alone saves you time and money"

I love old printed stuff! It just makes me happy! And the best part is, because I so FAIL at sewing, I don't even know what half of the stitches in that list up there are, so this should be EXTRA fun for me to play with! HA!!! I do love it, though! I really do! (If you want one I think I saw a couple on Etsy and Ebay, so do some searches and you are bound to find one! I got a really great deal, so I'm happy, but I wish I had known it came in red!!!!)

Do you love vintage cool stuff? Are you fascinated with print from years ago? What do you have in your stash?

  13. I think that my grandma had one of those and am now wondering where it might be. I was given all her sewing stuff when she died back in 2000 and will need to go look now. Can't wait to see what you create with it.

  26. Add me to the list of those who would love a copy of the instructions. I have one of these that came in a box of notions from a garage sale. I just use it as an awl right now in papercraft work, but I'd love to know how to make it work for real!
