Watercolored Brights and the Trash Bin

I love using the watercolor look with bright colors!  It's a bit less expected and a lot of fun!  I decided to play along with the Avery Elle AEI♥U watercolor challenge with some bright colors and a stamp set that I thought might be a bit of a different choice.  I absolutely LOVE the results!

Watercolor Hello

I stamped the speech bubble piece and the sentiment with pink and yellow distress inks.  Then I sprayed them with a LOT of water to get them to run all over the place.  I hit it with my heat gun to dry it quickly.  My next step was to promptly throw the panel in the trash.

Yup.  Seriously.

I hated it and thought it was a lost cause.  THEN...I went on to try a different look that turned out cleaner and 'okay', but I wasn't loving it.  I had to go do something and when I came back, the bright panel (in the trash, mind you) caught my eye again.  I totally pulled it out and finished this card.  For reals.  Just keepin' it real and tellin' how it is, folks!  THAT was, indeed, my process for this card.

Watercolor Hello

So, I took it out of the trash and decided to add just a touch of blue with my watercolors.  I splattered some blue paint onto the panel and squished some larger drops with my finger to spread them a bit.  I love it.  The colors are awesome, the water ran nicely and then I added a few enamel dots to finish it off and was thrilled!  YAY!

You can find the links to the products I used below (all links are affiliate links and I LOVE and appreciate it lots when you use them!  :) )  The moral of the story:  Look in your trash bin now and then...you may be able to recover one of those toss-aways, after all!

Have a Happy!
