Loopy Love

We are going Over the Edge with CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!  That's right!  Our challenge for you this week is to create a design with an element that is over the edge!  I decided to create a nice CAS card for this one using some new stamps from Fresh Squeezed Stamps called When Hearts Collide!  I love this fun loopy love heart!

I die cut the heart from the white panel and then popped it up on the card base with foam squares.  I stamped and fussy cut the heart and used a different thickness of foam adhesive to secure it in place.  My Wink of Stella brush came in handy to add a bit of shimmer in the 'holes' of the letters!  I love that thing!  Totes, dudes.   A couple of gold and black sequins were the perfect finishing touch!

Dance Like Nobody is Watching

Yes.  I do that.  No, like, for reals.  Sometimes when nobody actually IS watching and sometimes when people are!  It's fun.  Try it some time.  It's absolutely fabulous, actually!  And that, my friends, is what inspired my Crafter's Companion card for today!



For this card I actually have a bit of a tutorial for you to create the fun colored embossing look that I used on the feathers.  I used the Falling Feathers set and the Friends and Family Sentimentals for my card today!



To begin, I stamped and embossed both the sentiment and the two feathers with VersaMark nink and white embossing powder.   I prefer Stampendous embossing powder, but I know there are lots out there!



I then began coloring using the lightest Spectrum Noir markers in my color scheme first.  You can see in this shot I've already added a pale pink to the top of one feather and I'm adding the pale green tone to the second.  I did do both feathers at the same time, going back and forth, as the feathers overlapped a bit and I wanted to be sure to include both color sets.



I used three tones for each feather.  With the darkest, I not only did the fluffy feather parts, but I pulled that color up through the center of each feather to give some center definition and focus the color down the middle.  I like the strength this gives the feathers.

After that, I simply trimmed the black cardstock to size and then completed my card!  This is really a rather simple way to achieve a really beautiful look!

That's What She Said

It's ANYTHING GOES time over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog this week, only, we've added a TWIST!  That's right!  Anything goes WITH a bit of twine or string!  We want you to use some sort of string, twine, etc. on your project, but it can be any theme with any inspiration at all!  It does, however, have to be NEW... no backlinking, please! The design team is showing off some fabulous goodies from Mama Elephant!  Woot!  Woot!



It's funny, this should have been an easy one!  I mean, it's ANYTHING GOES, right?  All I had to do was use some string and/or twine on my project.  Easy enough!  Yeah... notsomuch.  As it turns out I don't do string on demand very well.  HA!  BUT, after making one card, not loving it (see end of post), and then deciding to stick to what I'm good at... ULTRA CAS, I came up with this super fun That's What She Said card and I LOVE it!  It is simple and fun and it makes me happy and it has string on it.  YAY!



Of course, it will be no problem for YOU to create with string or twine because you have TONS of inspiration to check out over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog AND you have a super-d-duper incentive!  One lucky participant will win a $50 Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store!  WHAT?!  Yup.  Totes, dudes.  Totes.

Neon INSANITY!  Neon ink, neon twine, neon WHOA!  Dudes.  For reals.  I don't know, though.  I guess it is what it is.  It's fun, if nothing else.  I had to make it twice so maybe I am just mad at the first one with it's ridiculous ink smudges and such.  HA!  ANYway.... neon.  I'll be handing out sunglasses later.

The Life You Imagined

Hello, friends!  I have a new card to share with you today using the Falling Feathers stamp set from Crafter's Companion.  I love the feathers in this set!  SO pretty!  I actually have two cards to share using this set, so I plan to show you one today and the other later in the week along with a tutorial!  YAY!



To ink the feather, I used several different Tsukineko Brilliance inks.  I used the Dew Drop pads for this, as they make it super easy to apply several different colors to one image.  I love how pretty the mix of inks makes the image!



The brilliance inks have a neat shimmering quality to them that is just so pretty!  YAY!  For the sentiment, I stamped a phrase from the Sentimentals Imagine set and added a few glittery enamel dots.  I don't work in purples often, but I was happy to have this card turn out kind of pretty in purples.  Of course, glitter paper makes everything better.  HA!

You and Me Against the World

I have a couple more cards that I made on Friday after the first day of the Online Card Classes Stenciled class! I have to do some catch up for the weekend days, as things got a little busy, but I wanted to share these ones that I was able to get completed, as I kind of love them! YAY!

The first uses both stencils and the water flecks on distress inks technique. I've actually never tried this before and I am THRILLED with the results. Absolutely THRILLED!!!


To create this card I began by using the two stencils to apply watermark ink and then I heat embossed with white embossing powder. I did the cityscape and then added the stars after embossing the first to avoid smuding things with the other stencil. I then applied three different Distress Inks to create the dusk sky. I used the wand of my spritz bottle to tap water over the ink and I love how that turned out! P.S. This is TOTALLY the card I am giving to the Hubbums for Valentine's Day. We don't really do Valentine's Day, but I love this card so much and it is perfect for him, so I'm doing it!!! HA!


I also did another card attempting the gradient look with a single ink and a stencil. I kind of got it, but I can't say I love this card quite as much, if I'm honest. It was fun to create, but it just doesn't have the oomph! that the first one has. Oomph. Hmmm... apparently that is a real word. Good to know. HA!


The vellum banner is popped up and that is kind of fun, but... just not loving it. It happens. What can I say? LOL! Anyway, I am really super enjoying the class and I can't wait to get caught up and create some cards based on the inspiration provided over the weekend!
