My Favorite ATC EVER and Some Notes on Last Nights Storm

So...you may or may not have heard that Massachusetts got hit with some pretty heavy storms last night. Including, but not limited to tornadoes. Can I tell you a little secret?

1. SHhh......I absolutely LOVE storms. They just fill me with energy and yet relax me all at the same time.

Not, mind you, that they can't be dangerous, obviously they can be and are...it's just that once you have actually seen the sky turn a brilliant, beautiful shade of emerald green and then watched the tornado move and hoped against all hope that it didn't turn your direction while you were driving down the LONG stretch of highway in the middle of the fields of Kansas, well....you tend to panic slightly less when it is just a watch and the sky is grey, you see wind, hail, rain, and whatnot and the animals are all still making their noises. It's the silence that freaks me the heck out! If everything goes quiet and the sky become the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, well, then I would say it's a good time to panic.

The thunder storms were incredible! It was the kind of lightening that looks like it is thrown down from space and stretches all the way to the ground! Brilliant, and beautiful! And incredibly bright! This is a photo I took at 9:00 last night (normally it is quite dark by then) in the middle of the second storm that came through.

That's straight off the camera, folks. I didn't adjust a thing! It was like DAYLIGHT when the lightening was illuminating the sky! Anyway, we are safe and thank you so much to those of you who asked! I am very grateful that after a storm like this I can share the beauty of it rather than the tragedy. I know for others, this storm brought great loss and that makes me so sad. Please keep those people in your prayers.

****UPDATED TO ADD: The Results are in and I am a finalist in the ATC contest!!! Please visit the Retro Cafe Art blog and vote for your favorite! I would LOVE to have your vote!!!***

Now I would like to share the last of the three ATC's I created for the Retro Cafe Art ATC Frame contest! Honestly, this is my favorite ATC EVER! I really love this one. I had a blast creating it and it is just so me! I love it!

Her Halo

Her Halo

This is created using the THICK ATC back and frame cut from masonite found here. I absolutely LOVE how strong and thick the masonite frames are! I coated the frame with glue an then covered it with a net ribbon from May Arts. Because that left glue exposed, I was then able to cover the entire piece with a pretty ocean blue glass glitter to give it fabulous sparkle! I then coated that with Glossy Accents and sprinkled a few flakes of glass glitter over that to add some dimension to the shimmer.

The edges are lined with Tim Holtz tissue tape and Tim Holtz Memo pins are sticking out the top. The back panel is also lined with the tissue tape and I added a strip of Dresden Foil beneath the frozen charlotte doll. She is mounted on a vintage button, thus creating her halo. I have REALLY enjoyed creating these ATC's! Here are all three for you to see, again.

  12. Given your confession, I think you'd quite like living here in central Florida, where just about EVERY afternoon/early evening in the summer, we get crazy scarey thunderstorms. The winds from both coasts clash in the middle. Truly awesome storms and beautiful too!

Good luck in the ACT contest; sending good wishes your way:)
