Pointing the Way to Thanks

Have you seen Kelly Purkey's new line of stamps?  'Umm....'cause I'm in love.  Just sayin'.  For reallies, though.  They are AWESOME!!!!  I created this card using the super fabulous Rad set.  The clear sets are exclusively available via Simon Says Stamp, so check them out!

Thanks so Much

I stamped the arrows in two colors, masking off the area I planned for the sentiment.  I then added the sentiment in black so it would stand out nicely.  A bit of twine from The Twinery finished it off wonderfully!

I like the colors on this one.  They are happy colors!  Also.... over on the May Arts blog today I have a pretty card going up!  You will want to check that out because not only is there lots of inspiration for our May Arts/ Little Yellow Bicycle week, but prizes, too!  YAY!

I hope you have a super wonderful Friday!  I had a tooth pulled last night.  It's the first time I've ever done that, so I was scared.  It was all good.  Actually...kind of a neat experience, overall.... I'm weird like that.  HAHAHAHAHA!  I am planning on remaining good friends with my bottle of ibuprofen today, however.  LOL!  This means I get to have ice cream for lunch, though, right?  Right.  kthankbye.

Silver And Gold...Silver and Gold...Oh, How They Shimmer

Can you name the movie that song quote comes from? *sigh* I love it! Today is the start of an Anything Goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog and the Design Team is using some fun Martha Stewart products on our cards this week!

I decided to play with some tapes in silver and gold for a metallic holiday greeting!

Silver and Gold Christmas

I stamped with Momento Desert Sand ink on the background using a Hero Arts background stamp and then added the Martha Stewart tapes to bring in the silver and gold. I also layered some tapes and punched out the butterfly for the accent at the top of the card. The bow, I created with the tapes, as well! That part was a little extra fun!

Metallic Christmas (detail)

As for the challenge, it's an ANYTHING GOES week, so you have pretty much ZERO excuse for not entering. So just do it!!! Just sayin'. *wink*wink* One lucky participant will win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Superstore!!! That could TOTALLY be you, dude!

So head on over to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog and check out what the rest of the team has created to inspire you today and then make something fabulous!

Elie Saab Inspired Warm Thoughts

Have you seen the Runway Inspired Challenge blog?  It's kind of awesome, actually.  I have been following since it started, but, somehow I haven't actually played along and I decided that I needed to fix that problem, so I created a card inspired by the current Elie Saab Spring 2012 Inspired challenge to share with you today!

Here is the inspiration image.

I loved the pinks and blues against the black and I also like how, despite the black, the look has a soft, wispy feel. I pulled out my Momento Rose Bud, Teal Zeal, and Danube Blue inks along with some black cardstock to recreate that feel in card form.

Sending Warm Thoughts

I stamped the snowflakes from the Simple Snowflakes set by Tami Mayberry for Gina K. Designs onto the card, masking areas with washi tape. (The clear is currently sold out, but you can get the rubber for the same price!) I then misted the stamped snowflakes with a bit of water to give it a watercolor look, removed the tape and allowed that to dry. I cut strips of black cardstock to add the bold lines and then stamped the sentiment in black along the side. A pink May Arts ribbon finishes it off, much like the pink shoes in the photo! (Okay...on my blog they look kind of reddish, but on the original post with a white background, I was seeing pink. Either way, still a pop of color.)

Sending Warm Wishes (detail)

I had SO much fun with this challenge! Here's hoping you will see me participating in this one more often now that I got started! Have a happy Tuesday!

A Pretty Bracelet, handmade? Sure! I can do that!

This week Stampendous! is teaming up with DIY Bangles to show off some totally awesome projects! These are PERFECT if you like to make handmade gifts for your loved ones!

I got to play with the large Pentagon bangle for this one. It began as simply a plain, wood bracelet, but with a bit of Stampendous! magic... well....

Butterfly Bangle

I began by covering the entire thing with Aged Rose Embossing Enamel. I covered both the outside and the inside of the bangle. To do this, apply VersaMark in sections, sprinkle on the enamel, heat, and repeat until you have gone all the way around the outside. After completing the outside, do the same on the inside - you will need a VersaMarker or a small VersaMark ink pad to easily ink the inside of the bracelet.

Butterfly Bracelet

The next step for this piece was to stamp the butterflies and flourish from the Charm Collection Perfectly Clear Stamp Set on white tissue with StazOn ink. I carefully trimmed these pieces and then affixed them to the bangle using Beacon Fast Finish.

Butterfly Bracelet

Finally, I glued gems around the bracelet using Beacon Fabritac. (This stuff is pretty strong, so it was a good choice for this project.) I love how it turned out! AND...I know exactly to whom I'm giving this fun bracelet!

Head on over to the Stampendous! Blog to check out the rest of the great projects made today!!! And be sure to check in throughout the week for LOTS of inspiration!!!

A Very Gnomey Christmas!

I'm back!  I hope you all had a super fabulous Thanksgiving!  The Hubbums made the EPIC turkey he had planned and it turned out AMAZING!!!  We normally eat vegetarian, so he figured if we were going to splurge he would go all out.  It was totally worth it!  Awesome turkey!  It was a really fun day with family and then we went back out with the fam on Friday to hunt down my parents' Christmas tree.  It's an annual tradition and TONS of fun!  I posted photos of that adventure on Facebook.  Love when I can get some good ones with people enjoying themselves!

And now it's time to talk Christmas Cards!!!!!  YAY!!!!  This week Gourmet Rubber Stamps has an awesome color challenge for you!  The DT has created some fun cards to get you inspired!  Here is the color challenge.

I LOVE these colors and decided to try to play with them in a new way since I tend to use these tones a lot on my own. So...this is what I came up with!

Gnome Christmas

I used the adorable Gnome stamp and the Merry Christmas stamp for this card. I paper pieced the gnome with some fun papers and a bit of cork for some added texture and, well, FUN!!! YAY for fun things! I added flock to the beard. Very cute!

Gnome Christmas Sneak

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team has created and then head on over to the Gourmet Rubber Stamps blog to link up your take on this great color challenge!

Happy Chris-Mouse!!!

I know.  It's the day before Thanksgiving and I have a Christmas card, but I just couldn't resist this ADORABLE stamp from Stamps Happen over at Simon Says Stamp!

This week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge is a fun sketch created by Dawny! I love how this sketch could so easily turn into so many fabulous card designs! I also love that it inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and dive into some patterned papers and coloring and things I just don't do very often! YAY!

And, as per usual, Simon Says Stamp is giving on lucky challenge participant a $50 Voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Superstore! There is no reason NOT to play!!!

Here is the card I created using Dawny's wonderful sketch! I played with some great Echo Park papers and I just LOVE that cute stamp!

Merry Chris-mouse

I tied a few jingle bells onto the card for a bit of fun! I kinda love 'em. But, then again...they ARE called JINGLE bells, for goodness sake! ;)

Merry Chris-Mouse (detail)
